:) It is a funny record for Sachin. After scoring a 200 of 147 balls against South Africa, he now has the record for scoring the slowest double century in ODIs because now Sehwag the other person to score double century has scored it off 140 balls. What do you say of this record? :) Cheers! Ram

But a double century is double century. I am only worried he is not able to get 100th 100 till now. I wish he makes is quickly because he may have to retire say in a year or two.

why are you worried? Sachin is not worried, he is worried what will happen after he achieves the feat . People will start asking , when are you gong to retire? Now, that is a worry.

I think the Australian tour will see him get his 100th 100. I am hoping this comes in the Boxing Day test at Melbourne. Let's wait and watch. Cheers! Ram

I remember that Virender Sehwag's 218 runs of 149 balls against West Indies in the 4th ODI in that series, Virender Sehwag reached 200 in 140 balls which is 7 balls faster than Sachin Tendulkar. I liked Sachin Tendulkar's 200 more, it was better to watch because I Sachin Tendulkar's batting techniques is better than Virender Sehwag and Sachin didn't have to take any risk to hit those boundaries.....

Also the fact that Sachin scored the double century against a better bowling attack of South Africa. Cheers! Ram

Well Ram_cv, I would not compare this knock of Sehwag to that of Sachin's because Sachin played a better bowling attack. I mean that Sachin scored his double hundred against South African bowling attack and bowling attack of SA is far better than that of present West Indies bowling attack. I am happy that Sachin record was broken by a person who everyone thought would break one day and that is Sehwag. One attitude which Sehwag has is that he will try to go for a six even when he is 1 short of 100 runs or even while facing the first ball of his innings. This attitude is very rare for any batsmen to have. In fact was shocked when he played a miss timed shot in to air when he was on 174 and thankfully to god that Darren Sammy dropped that catch. Yeah records do show that Sachin reached his double hundred in 147 balls whereas Sehwag achieved it in 140 balls. But I enjoyed Sachin knock against SA little more than of the present knock by Sehwag. I had the luck to watch both innings on TV and enjoyed them.

I agree that the quality of attack that Sachin faced was far superior to the one faced by Sehwag. And of course, Sachin was the first man to break that barrier. So in essence he is the trend setter. Cheers! Ram

ya when viru made it in 140 balls sachin's double century became the slowes as there is only two double centuries in ODI. hope that viru will find one double century in T20 also, that will be a real treat..

I wonder what Sachin will think after reading this one.. He score 200 in only 147 balls and now he having record of making slowest one... Making 200 is surely a big thing. I wonder if someone can broke the record of sehwag now..But I thinks the same when Sachin makes 200.. But it will be too hard for sure.

I think with milestones such as this, it is always a question of who breaks this first. Once broken, many other people follow suit. I expect more double centuries in the future. Cheers! Ram

Ha ha :) this is hilarious :) Dint think of this at all .But Sachin, being Sachin, I am sure wil not mind.. Though Sehwag beat his record he still holds these two- 1. First man to score a double century in ODI 2. Highest not out score in ODI's. And for many Sehwag fans like me, this double century has been long overdue. We all knew the only person to beat Sachin's record woudf be Sehwag and he has done it at last. Not only has he broken the record, but shattered it. Cant see anyone but him breaking it :)

Remember one thing, the next match is in Chennai. This is the venue of Saeed Anwar's 194. So we can expect Sehwag to go one better in the next match though it would really be asking too much of him. BTW, Sachin already tweeted that he is very happy that it is an Indian and Sehwag who broke his record. Cheers! Ram

I think you need to chill down a bit. This is all being said in good humor. This is a discussion site and don't get personal in this. You are new to mylot, so please stick to the decorum of the site. I am myself a big Sachin fan, and respect him for what he has achieved. Cheers! Ram

Its funny how every discussion about cricket ends up with a mention of Sachin. Now the floodgates will open and in the year 2012 we will see a few more double hundreds. And it can happen anywhere not just on the sub continent pitches. Will ICC now have a look at the playing conditions and tweak it a little so that bowlers too have some advantages. We are tired of the domination by the bat. It is delightful when someone like Sehwag counter attacks the best of bowling but it is ridiculous when blokes like Pollard and Warner are allowed to flourish mainly because the conditions are batsmen friendly. Now everyone knows that players like Gayle,Sehwag, Sachin, Gilchrist, Ponting... can play well in any format and in any condition but when lesser players start to play well thanks to altered playing conditions it is not good viewing at all.

I think with T20 and ODI formats definitely the batsmen have the overt advantage. But the one new thing in favor of the bowlers is the use of two brand new balls for the ODIs. This would mean that there is more in it for fast bowlers for the first 20 overs or so instead of 10 overs previously. Cheers! Ram
