When i was looking for stuff to upload, I found this instead, I remember this like it was just a few days ago. With my profession as a seaman, I travel around the world from port to port, to deliver stuff from country to country. and luckily when we stop by at china, our captain decided that we could have a tour to this historical structure in china. and when everything was prepared, we set of to the great wall. It was a long journey from the port of "Qingdao"(tsingtao) to the tourist site. but i guess it was worth the wait. Not alot of people are lucky enough to go here for free, because it's quite far from the nearest city(I think) and it was very difficult to communicate with them because not all of them could speak english fluently. But all in all, i guess the travel was worth it, and i could really see that it was kept in good condition. I wore a jacket for this experience but to my dismay, it only made me sweat. It was that time of the year that it was not cold, and not too warm, but walking a few kilometers in uphill downhill slopes made me sweat alot. then when we already finished the tour and went back to the bus everybody was so exhausted, but atleast visiting the great wall for the first time was overall rewarding, and if your asking me if I want to come back again, I would surely reply yes.

wow thanks for sharing this one, you are indeed lucky to travel there. And for your uniform, that was really ironic on why they design it like that for me uniform should be a lot of comfortable especially in the forces.

, don't worry we just where this uniform on special days, but we don't really where this everyday, that would REALLY be uncomfortable.

hi davaome what a lucky way to see the great wall of C hina and I am sure it was worth the walk, and the tiredness to actually be there and see it and walk along it. I have seen it in travelogues and on television., It looks like a huge amount of work went into building it and its stood the tests of time. I do envy you for getting to see this as its a definitely great place to visit.thanks for sharing with us. It must have been a wonderful experience for you if you would like to come back again.

The jacket that you had to wear sounded very heavy and uncomfortable. So it is fantastic that you have happy memories of you voyage. I would love to visit China and walk a little on the Great Wall of China. I have many happy travel memories from the past. In Samoa I went to a bus around the island and stopped off at picturesque places like palm fringed beaches, mango groves and green highlands. In South Africa I took a suburban train then walked over to Boulders Beach where I saw African penguins.

Good luck with all the traveling that you wish to do. I hope that you will visit Cape Town and be able to pop down to Boulders Beach to see the African penguins. I suggest you read the travel guide books that appeal to you.
