"Dolce far niente"

I know it's an old discussion, but I've just got the chance watching "Eat, pray, Love" (the movie) and I suddenly fell deeply in love in this life documentary (I'd prefer to call it like that)of this amazing woman. And I know that the book would be so much more amazing, but I still need to find a time to read it. Well, first I have to buy it. Lol. The bottom line is that I found so many interesting quotes in this movie that if you apply it in your life, you can be a better person in understanding the life itself. The first quote that I like is "Dolce far niente". I hope I wrote it correctly. Lol. The meaning the sentence is "the sweetness of doing nothing". I know how to do nothing in my life, but I think the time that I really understand the meaning of the sentence was that when I went out of town ALONE (I never go anywhere ALONE), renting a hotel room, and stayed there ALONE for some hours. My God, I really enjoyed it soooo much!! That time I've come to the understanding when people say that sometimes, for once in your life time, you need some time alone. I was there in the hotel room, sitting alone, reading, and watching movie from my laptop without thinking of any work to do, people telling me to do anything, and blah blah blah. I felt so free from the outside world and I thought that I need to do it more often. :) And so how about you people? Have you ever enjoyed your time alone? Does this "dolce far niente" mean anything to you? Let's share it. :)

mm..having private time must be very exciting. we are so busy with our work and daily activities everyday so we almost can't even breathe..LOL..so we need 'me time' sometimes. I agree with you of having one day in our life we have that kind of time. nobody is around us and nothing we do. it's only I and my lazy time. but I think we shouldn't have this kind of time too long cos we will die boring maybe. LOL. actually I have 'me time' everyday, it is when my husband has gone to work and my daughter has gone to her school. I am totally all alone at home. yeah, it's maybe only one or two houra but it means much for me cos I can do everything I want which I can't do when both of them are at home, such as selling something online (I have an online shop..cool, ha? LOL), or just play game on computer (while selling something online, of course..:D). yeah, maybe my leisure time is not suitable with your quote cos I still do something during this time..LOL..but that's fine. and it's not always my leisure time merely I think cos I should do some house chores such as ironing, washing clothes or sweeping the floor during that time. yeah, whatever it is, I really enjoy my short leisure time at home..:)

Lol. In my opinion, u haven't got any real "me time" as u still do something else in ur spare time. And plus, it's still got "one or two hours". Not the whole day. I think u still need a real alone time once in ur lifetime, moreover u're a wife and a mom. I think u still need to find at least 1 day in a month (or maybe 1 after some months in ur case, lol) and do completely nothing in the whole day. No husband, no daughter, no work. Just u. :)
