A virus that sends skype

I was shocked to see my computer auto sending skype messages last day which i noticed only after my friends opened the link and reported back to me.
Finally it was a virus attack due to poor anti virus protection.
Has someone too faced this in recent days.
And how did you get rid of it ?

This may or may not be the worm described here: http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=21366 (from 2007).
Removal should be fairly easy.
Download and install a good antivirus solution (a good free one is Avast! Antivirus). Make sure that it is fully updated.
Disconnect the computer from the Internet and run a Full Scan, preferably a Scheduled Scan which will run before Windows actually starts.
Allow Avast (or whichever AV you are using) to deal with any viruses which it finds.
In future, make sure that automatic updates are turned on so that the program can check for any new incoming viruses, trojans or worms.
