Are you rich?

I encountered this anecdote where a man brought his son to visit the farm to show him how lucky they were for being rich. In the end of the visit the young boy remarked to his father how poor they were because the farmers have lots of pets, a river that they can bath it and stars that shines on them in the evening. Being rich is relatively conditional on how one appreciates all their blessings.
I am very appreciative of all the blessings I received. I guess I am rich on my own right for seeing how God provides for me. How about you? Are you rich? Why did you say so?

Rich? No, not in this lifetime lol. At least not rich in the 'I've got loads of cash' kind of way. I live on a farm, and I feel like I'm richer than most other people that are cash obsessed. I know how to save for what I want, and am not suckered in to instant gratification...meaning I'm am willing to wait for what's good, and therefore appreciate it more. I'm blessed with animals that love and trust me, good harvests that benefit not only me, but scads of other people too. I have wide open skies so I can view the beautiful nightscape that God provides each night. Not all farmers are financially poor either, some are quite good at making money and providing crops.
In our family and farming friends, we often say: Enjoy your food? Thank a farmer! Like milk and ice cream? Thank a farmer for taking the time to milk all those cows:-) Like your clothing? Thank a farmer, for without them growing cotton, animals, and other necessities, there would be no clothing production or shoes, etc. Without 'poor' farmers, YOUR world would be totally different! Being blessed is in the eye of the beholder. Sitting up all night with a horse getting ready for birth is a blessing. You might have to just watch, or you might have to help. No matter what, it is still one of nature's miracles, and a blessing in it's own right. To me, the word 'rich' has nothing to do with money or financial standing, it's being one with nature, appreciating what we do have, and being able to help others along the way!

Wow! You are so rich!
You are exactly among those who fall under my definition of being rich. Continue being grateful with what you have and you'll never be unhappy as others are. Many people fall prey to money. They were controlled by the desire to get it and in the end, they became unhappy. I don't want to be like that.
What you are doing right now is my dream of doing someday. I am starting with the vegetables on a pot and raising few chickens. I live though in the city and so I am limited with the space that I have. But someday, I'll get that land where I can raise stocks and grow vegetable plants.
