I was just sitting here thinking how I have not had an exciting Christmas in so very long. It's sad but true that everyone is so wrapped up in gift giving that every year lately I find myself sacraficing my own kid's great xmas to make sure everyone else's kiddo's get's gifts. See in my family I have three kids. Right now the youngest grand kid and the very oldest one. Well since my first was born 16 years ago we now have eight other's besides mine. So that's what I am to buy for for Christmas. Well problem is that I'm the only single person in the group and single mother of three. So it's a lot harder for me to come up w/the money for my kids alone but to also do for them and my roomates kids that are also here Christmas morning and can't not have something from me & the kids under the tree. It's just crazy and I find that because of that My Kids get shortchanged and it has really started to make dread Christmas : [

Oh, that's not fair to your own kids. Can you find less expensive gifts for the others? I know, kids expect expensive gifts any more, but it's up to us to teach them that it's not always the best way. Maybe you could come up with some free or cheaper activities for your own kids, too, that would help make Christmas seem bigger for them, like parades, tree lighting ceremonies or local plays.

Ya know what's sad is I don't worry about the kids I buy for to be worried about the amount of money I have spent on their gift it's their parents I worry will be upset. They are just like that. Very superficial and materialistic. It is sad. Yes we do try to do the parade of lights, and get hot chocolate on a weekend night and drive around looking at lights. We go to three diffrent places with families we love that all the kids get gifts at we do cookie decorating and ginger bread houses. I'd really like to have us volunteer as a family every holiday too. What a great tradition that would be.

I agree, that would be a great tradition. It's sad how many people are so materialistic any more. They miss out on so much.
