I didn't think much about it when I signed up on the Federal "Do NOT Call List" until this morning. I finally was able to catch the caller to find out what was on their mind. The man started quizzing me about my address, location, name etc. Then he started in about my mortgage (which I don't have one BTW) and that's when I got bored and didn't want to waste anymore time with him, so I announced that I am on the Federal do not call list. I am sure the man wet himself right off the bat. There was a ring of terror in his voice as he proceeded to apologize about 20 times and inquire as to why I didn't tell him that in the first place. I informed him that there was no way because he didn't let me get a word in edgewise. After he apologized for the 20th time and informed me that I would be removed from their list, he wished me a Merry Christmas and hung up. I'm going "Wow that's awesome!!!!" I realize that there is a $10,000 fine if you call a person on the list, but I didn't realize the panic it would cause in an unwanted telemarketer.
So, for those of you who haven't signed up for the do not call list, do it as soon as possible, not only does it eliminate a bunch of calls but it's fun to hear someone come unglued when you tell them that you are on the list.

I had to add my number back on it about a month ago. At least I think I had to because I was getting a lot of calls. It only works on the legitimate callers. There are a lot of scam callers that are spoofing phone numbers, plus the companies that give surveys are still allowed to call as well as charities. I don't mind the charities, but the surveyors really bother me. It did seem to have fewer calls now, even though I still have a few persistent ones. They are all automated callers so it's not as if I can tell anyone to stop.

Hi loverbear, it is wonderful to see you. I hope you are doing well, I miss you a lot around here.
I believe I put my new number on the "do not call" list, so I never get any calls, so I am surprised that you did. I will have to double check and then remember to mention it if I do get a call in the future..
