So my fiance got us a puppy for Christmas and we have had him for almost 3 weeks. He is 3 months old and his name is Lucius. He is teething still so pointers and tips on teething would be great. He almost has the potty training down but still have accidents in the house(thankfully only pee) So does anyone know of a good spray to use when cleaning up to be sure it's cleaned up good? He also wants to tray and eat everything he sees, I try to be sure he don't get a hold of any garbage but he does chew on leaves and things, do I need to worry about any plant life harming him? And and all tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Wow that surely is a very cute puppy! It is a Border collie right? We got a border collie too. Just make sure that he doesn't drink too much dirty water(with oil etc)( he can be very sick of it!). A very good thing to know is that you should never ever give your dog chocolate, grapes or raisins! If your dog eats it he can die. Do a search on what dogs can't eat it is a very important thing to know! Hope this helps! and good luck with your cute new friend :)

He is a Border Collie and Husky mix. I know you can't give dogs chocolate but I have never heard about grapes or raisins, thank you for that information. So far he has been a really well behaved dog the only thing we have been working really hard on him about is jumping and biting at us when we try to walk him. Most of the time he is really good on walks but I have noticed that when he wants to play more then walk he wants to jump at us and try to play.

Congratulations on getting your puppy! He is adorable and lucky to have you. You should let him chew some of the grass outside because it's supposed to be good for their stomach. I was told that when dogs have a tummy ache or ate something bad they will search for anything green and leafy and they know what to eat and what not to eat. So I usually let my dog eat some green grass from outside and it hasn't done her any harm so far. Have you started teaching him any tricks like giving high fives or shaking hands? You should start teachin him easy tricks like that right now because they will quickly get it and it's so funny to see them do stuff like that. Good luck!

Thank you, we love him very much. We have started him off on tricks and he quickly has learned to play fetch, sit, stay, shake, lay down and roll over! We have only had him now 3 weeks and he is showing to be a very smart puppy.

Wow! Congratz for you and your fiance, and of course your new pup. Don't put any sharp things that your dog can reach to. Some plants is okay, but watch out... :D

Thank you! Ya we think of him like a baby, what we would want a child getting into we don't want him getting into.

Congrats on the new puppy! Puppies are really good companions and it would really sees you like him mummy You can train a puppy but talking to him like he's a real person. It's amazing how they eventually can understand what you said. Just tell him what not to eat or what not to do and he will really remember it. You can buy him dog soaps, shampoos and powders too so he would really be clean and would smell really good.

Congrats on being almost done with potty training the puppy. As for teething, you could give him lots of chew toys, make sure to alternate the toys that you give to him. Hide the ones that he has lost interest one and then you can give it back when he lost interest on he second one, and so forth. Always catch him in the act of chewing on things he should not chew on, like the couch for example and hold his mouth while saying NO firmly. it will also help for you to put all the shoes and other things on a higher shelf so that there will be less temptation for him to chew. Be sure to put a lid on your garbage. A hungry dog does not dig around for food so you must feed him properly, not too much or he might grow obese. Good luck.
