I got an ipad for Christmas and I wondered if there was a site where you can get free ebooks. I have a few apps and I know there's some free ones in iTunes but I'd like to be able to get popular books. I know there's places to get free movies and stuff but I've never seen books. Do sites like that even exist for ebooks?

I got a kobo app on our iPad. That's where I buy most of the books that I read (if I ever have the time). I know that they also have some free books available that you can download. Just not sure if you need have an account first. Which means you have to attach a credit card to the account.

Hmm, I'll have to check that one out. I've downloaded a few different apps and I have gift cards to Barnes and noble so I can buy ebooks there. But I also found a way to get completely free current books and movies by downloading them as torrents from this one website. They don't have everything, but so far I've found a few things.

I think you can hook up to your local library and download books from your library. You can keep them for 2 weeks, and then I think you either have to renew the subscription or it is deleted from your computer. I have ebook.com on my iphone.. it comes with some free books.. old books like Moby Dic.k, and other books from the 1800s… I buy books. I also have a Sony Reader I got for Christmas and they have an option to hook up with any library in your area that does ebooks. You might call your library to find out the link to go to. I’m not sure how to get free books to keep. There might be some websites for that. I like certain authors and I am willing to pay $7.99 (no tax) for the download. Some books are cheaper.

That's cool, I never knew about the library thing. Hopefully a library near me does that. I have the iBooks app for it and I've seen some of the free books. The thing is they don't have newer and more current authors. But, I use torrents to download movies for my iPhone and today I discovered you can download ebooks as torrents. So far I downloaded the hunger games. It went into iTunes and on my iPad as a PDF file, but it still showed up in the app and it reads just like an ebook would. I'm not sure if the Sony reader does that, but it's definitely worth looking into.
