Do you spend half of your earnings just to buy beauty products?

Some Filipinos are fond of buying beauty products, just one small space of advertisement on television then the next day they are buying and using it already. And then later on would complain that it does not work or something.. I always ask my friends (guys and gals) who is fond of buying and using beauty products, "why are you spending so much on these products?" is what I always ask every time they ask me to go and do shopping with them. It started when I entered College, some would go to the washroom every after subject just to put on this and that the later would ask me "Does my face look okay?" I mean nothing changes except putting paint in your face. They spend like thousands just to buy a product that has carat something ingredient on it, and I always ask them, "Is your face made out of metal?". I mean seriously they put gold or whatever in those products and some don't even know where the ingredients came from, as long as the carat is high the better. I am not fond or even a fan of beauty products, I only use baby powder and baby cologne, and I still look good. My skin and my face looks fair that putting make up on my face or whatever isn't necessary. I like being simple and that makes me a unique person and I don't really mind if you are ugly or not as long as you have a good personality then you are fine for me. Even on my graduation pictures, all I need was a little gel on my hair but they put make up on me and when I looked at my picture, I look horrible with ink, it's like this is not me, (plus pictures are edited with photoshop). I mean no offense to those who use beauty products, but seriously I really want to ask why are you using it? Aren't you satisfied with your looks that you have to settle yourself buying these products which you are not even sure if it works? Isn't natural beauty much better than painted beauty? :)

Absolutely not! If I have extra money I'll use it to tithe (give $ to help others), spend money on my own activism, or invest in my business. I think it's ridiculous how much money women spend on this sort of product.

As far as money is concerned, I really couldn't determine how much of my income is actually spent on beauty products given the little that I have. Sometimes, one beauty product or service is already equivalent to a month's wage, but may also last for a long time. All I know for sure is that it isn't always that I purchase one because I need to allocate budget for other important things. When I was younger, I had zero idea about these things but found that it can be necessary to a certain degree when you are already working and interacting with people or clients, so much so when you already have a partner in life you need to appear presentable and neat to almost everyday.

i don't because i am not really very good at beauty products, and well, i do not like putting on make ups myself, i do not like the idea of religiously putting on creams on a daily basis... etc... i really think that the women who can do this, is a wow person. hehe i think this takes some really good patience, to be able to do this everyday like its part of the routine. hihi

Not half. More like a tiny portion. I have hazel/brown eyes which look golden in some lights. I want to accentuate and bring out this color because its really pretty and wearing eye make up helps this. Contrary to the majority belief make isn't always about hiding. Some times we just need a boost to let out best features shine.

I spend most of my money on food, stationery and train fares! I actually don't spend much on make-up, regardless how much I put on I still look bad! ;)

I do use eye shadow and mascara, to enhance my eyes. But one thing that i regularly buy is the mascara, which could last for more than 2 months and i buy one only, when it's on sale at Avon. My eye shadows & lipsticks were all given as pasalubongs by my friends from abroad. Yes, i do buy a facial soap and a cream to lighten my freckles, but they also last for two months or more, so i don't spend much on a monthly basis. I think, it's just a way of budgeting so you will not be spending so much on those beauty products. We do need them also to enhance our looks specially when you are working in an office that requires you to be always presentable.

I have never used alot of makeup. They say the more you put on at a young age the more you will need when you get older, just so you look younger. I wonder why they even put gold, etc., in makeup. Never heard of it. If you don't care for all that makeup then you need to decide just how much and how often you want to wear it. Feel good about yourself the way you are. If I am getting dressed up to go somewhere then I wear make up. Otherwise if I am just going shopping or grocery shopping I don't bother wearing makeup.

Hi Taki! When i was in college, i never put on makeup because i commute and i know that dirt and sweat would really smear my face. Just imagine, if i had put makeup on then that would be dirt + sweat + makeup oil = pimple! eewwrrr!! Who would like zits???!!! Now that i am old, i now wear make up every once and a while not like the youth of today. My stuff arent expensive and if it were, well... lets just say that i can afford it using my hard earned money unlike college students who would depend on their parents' money. hahahah! College students/ the youth today... i do find it disappointing that they use their parents' hard earned money to buy carat makeup. I am sure that their parents dont intend to give allowances to their kids to spend on that way. Now.. why do i wear makeup??? I wear eye liners because my eyes can get really puffy at times. I like wearing lipstick, the pink one to make it look youthful ( i think). With lipstick, you would have to put a little blush on your cheeks because putting on lipstick without blush would make one look pale.

Not really. The only make-up I use are compact or loose powder and lipstick. And I also use them sparingly since I'm not really a make-up person. I do buy moisturizer, facial cleanser and oil control formula since I have oily skin. People (often my female relatives) always insists on buying me some make-up and other beauty products so that I could try them but I don't really have a thing for it. However, when in serious appearance occasion, my mother and my aunt gang up on me when it comes to make-up. But I was it as soon I am able. I don't like the 'heaviness' of it on my face. I guess it depends on the person - if you are 'kikay' most definitely you will buy a ton of assorted products. My mother often chided me becuase some girls starve just to buy some products. I often remark that it's their lost. If you are a simple person - it';s always better with less. No point exaggerating simple beauty when you can do it the most natural way.

Im also using make up because it is required in my work. The light in the hotel is slightly orange that's why we need to put thick make up. Because of it every time that i remove the make up on my face i feel that my color is pale. After removing make up i also put moisturizer. But i only buy not too expensive make-up.

Hi there Taki, when i was in my college years i don't really use make up because our course, engineering does not require much femininity. But when i was working i sometimes use make up when needed, like meeting new client in a cozy place. But during regular working days i dont also use make up. But honestly,i envy those who knows how to apply make up properly. They look beautiful and i know they have more confidence than those who don't put make up.Sometimes when i meet girls wearing make ups,i wish i can do the same.Just to make myself more beautiful than i am now.
