This morning I feel so energy to clean my room. I got my desktop computer CPU with no cover casing. Inside of it got so many dust especially the graphic card and processor fan. I take out my motherboard from casing then take out all the ram, graphic card, and fan. By using all small old tooth brush I manage to clean almost all the dust. All component looks like new. Finally I put all part back together then try run my pc back. Suddenly my CPU not working, no windows appear, my processor fan turn on, I feel angry with sad, I feel like better I don't clean my pc it only turn to worst. I rest for half and hour to figure out what the problem. I still don't get it. I try again, I make sure all computer fit enough. Lucky, suddenly it run like normal..yay. Scary, I will not clean up my computer part again hehe... Maybe other people feel the same situation like me before, maybe I just need to calm down when happen again next time.

Oh, I totally know where you're coming from. I did a minor repair on my aunt's laptop a few days ago and it was so darn frustrating. The last time she had work done on it she took it to a repair shop and they ended up stripping out half of the screws in it. It took me more than an hour to get the screws out of the bottom so I could open it up. I got the fan and heat sink changed with no trouble and put it back together. Then I tried to power it up... nothing. After dinner I took it apart again only to find that I forgot to plug the ZIF connectors on the keyboard into the system board. The power button is part of the keyboard, so of course it wouldn't work with no power going to it! I think next time you should try using a can of compressed air instead of a toothbrush. It's much easier, and the cans come with little tubes on them so you can direct the air into all sorts of nooks and crannies. You don't even have to remove the components from the computer when you're using it. Plus you're less likely to accidentally cause damage to the computer's parts.

I've opened the tower and dusted, but I don't take anything apart other than that. The motherboard...I know nothing about so I don't do anything but dust what is shown, and that very carefully. I have all my plugs labeled with where they go and where they are from and label on the back of the tower to make sure the right cord is plugged into the right outlet. I know my limits on all the PC stuff, so I don't over step them I think you just might have not had a cord in tightly enough..at least it sounds like that. But now that you have had this experience..next time...just take it slower. I'd at least try your "calm down" approach next time. Maybe unplug one thing, dust and plug right back in or something like that. Mine gets really dusty in there and I know that dust can get into other tiny places and cause problems. Or hey...unplug from everything and take it in to be cleaned somewhere. It will be awhile before it needs it again..by then..this terrible experience will have calmed down and you'll probably do fine!

Happens to be all the time. LOL. It is the reason I always seems to delay cleaning my PC. Its like kinda I look forward to issues immediately after cleaning and setting up everything. But we have to go through that to feel good when we look at our PC. I keep putting off the urge to clean my PC just because I am not ready to troubleshoot and fix the issue I will face later.

hietavasi oh you just got scared and now you see you did know what you were doing after all. the next time you will have no trouble at all.just get used to all the parts and you will be a computer genius in no time. m e I let my son do all that as I do not know my way around like you do. more power to you. but at least I have learned how to reset my modem and router which is a necessity as the power often fluctuates here at Gold Crest. so yes calm down as you are not going to break it.

You are either very brave or very technical. I would never attempt to clean or take apart my computer. I don't know what I am doing, and I know it would never work again! I just clean the outside stuff. I have the spray can that one of the responses mentioned but I just use it on my keyboard.

Yeap it usually happens when you try to clean the CPU. WE have a desktop before and I also noticed that everytime my brother dust it off, it will stop working. I usually blame him before for cleaning the PC But I think you have to check it all again maybe some cables/wires are not attached properly and some might have been losely placed on its slots. Hope you can make it work later.

well sometimes we need to be careful to touch the devices, you lucky can fix it. I want to clean my PC but I've kicked my PC and then my hard-disk not detected, I found the problem was on IDE cable is not tight. Difficult if one is correct, there are other problems. We have to go through them one by one until the computer can work normally.

Hello friend.. I don't have a computer with me as desk top system...I use laptop to do all these..So I don't know about cleaning the inside or outside of a computer...You are great...Because you have courage to work with the inside devices..I don't have courage to deal with that...Most of my friends are doing this with themselves..They says that's a tough task to them..So I can know your feeling...Keep system clean always and make it clear..Thanks... :)

Sometimes we have to dare to do something - even to make mistakes though. because we would become aware of right and wrong. and today, you are brave enough to disassemble your computer. and what you get today is a valuable lesson. At least it makes you understand something of which you has not been understood before. Well, maybe next time you should need an expert guidance if you want to do it again. or, maybe you don't. because you've already fix it by yourself. I held up the thumb for you. bravo.. Good job
