hi jakeyangchao, Nowadays, cellphone becomes necessary. Students use it to contact their family, friends, teachers, and classmates. However, you said that it can lead students to cheating. You are correct. That is possible to happen especially if teachers are not that strict in monitoring their students. I remember when I was just a high school student, our teacher tell us to put all our things in front of the classroom. The only thing that will be left to us is our money, and ballpen. I think, the problem with students using cellphone for cheating purposes can be minimized if students or proctors will be strict on it.

I owned a phone when I was 16 years old. Now, even a 4-year old kid has his/her own cellphone. But of course, I understand. Nowadays, it is very important. It's a good way to communicate to them and for them to use for some emergency situation. It's just a matter of how you teach your children the limitations of using cellular phones. :)

Truthfully it depends on the situation, and what is allowed as well. I know a lot of people who give their children Cell phones, but some only can Text or call out in an Emergency... But it is a great way to keep in touch. I have heard of schools that BAN them so kids cannot have them there, but personally I think they are a Good way to keep in touch especially in case of an Emergency.

Well having a cellphone is definitely an advantage provided that it is use accordingly. Just like what you said, we can surely use the cellphone to communicate with them as well as need to know their whereabouts. I think the key there is discipline. When in class, it should be turned off so as to concentrate on the class and avoid distractions. With the games, it can be a good time to use them for past time or when there are no classes. But once again, it all ends up with discipline and proper use. Otherwise, the cellphone can also become a deterrent to effective study.

There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages in allowing students to use cell phones. Actually it is very important or essential if it will be used in its original purpose which is for communication especially in emergency or when there is urgent need to send or receive messages to and from significant people. I admire schools who does not allow their students to bring their mobile phones inside the classroom. As you have mentioned it can distract students to maintain focus to the class discussion. Although I did bought my kids cell phones but we also set restrictions and limitations on its usage. They are not suppose to bring it in school for it will be confiscated by the school representative if found in their possession. I also used it as a punishment, I mean every time they will make a mistake, they cannot use their cell phones within a designated span of time, and I found it useful so far.

I don't think students should be allowed to have a cellphone in their classroom. EVER! Cellphones are overused and abused adn there are tons of places they should not be allowed, like in classrooms, while on the job, while in a movie theater, while driving a vehicle, etc.

hello, I own a cellphone and it is never been the way I cheated on class. Well,, I think it is depends on the student if she will gonna make it as a game tools and a cheat for examination. Of course your child should always hear from you your advice from it. So, that they know what are the limitation of the Cellphone.

Every single entities in this world have their own advantages and disadvantages. And because of there are more advantages for student to have cellphone, then I will allow my children to own one. And it would be an advanced responsibility lesson. Now they have their own cell phone, they need to have responsibility with that cell phone. They should not misuse it for bad things. If they keep misusing it, then I will take that cellphone back..

There is nothing wrong in owning the mobiles by student of school or colleges. If the boys are able to handle the things then they can put it with them. IF the family can afford the mobile phones then giving it to child didn't go wrong. It helps in keeping information of child when he is in school. It help to inform something to him. Coomuncation gap will be not there. AS far as cell phones is concern for cheating it not happen man even if the student is so intelligent. He may try to do that but when exam is there books are not allowed so did the same with phones. All other things like games ect will have no eect on student it just ok for me.

students may own a cellphone...but there must be rules for them to follow..especially in using it in school..there should always be strict rules in using it in school.. one of the bad effects of cellphone is in the text messaging..many use shortcuts in typing the words..so students must practice to still use correct spelling in texting..so that they won't have problems in spelling..

Well first of all, I don't know why some people don't understand that there is an on/off switch. Some people say keep your phone on vibrate. I say, keep it off. Most phone plans have voice mail. People can leave messages and when class is over, they can return calls. As far as cheating, if they don't have web on they're phone they can't. And if that becomes a problem then guess what, here's an idea - I hate to say it but anyone taking tests have their phones confiscated until you finish.

Why wouldn't you agree to give your children a cellphone. It is a good way for them to communicate with their friends, to talk with the people they don't see that often / live far away but with which they still want to have contact. If they want to cheat on an exam there are also other ways to do it. It just depends on the person who uses it. And if we talk about answering phone calls in the class, they will do that anyways in meetings and so on.
