I have no career. Everything I touch turns into gold...I mean money...and lots of money for that matter...but not for me...for others. Is there something wrong with me? Should I settle down on "a career"?

Hi honeypals If everything you touch turns into gold.. I mean money, but not for you .. for others, then I guess you better start taking commissions for touching anything at all... lol Invest in your friends business and side by side look for a full time employment. Who knows you may turn luck for your boss too. Happy New Year... :)

Wow! I like your advice. I will try charging commissions rather than a direct fee or an hourly/daily rate. My problem is what to base my commissions on. In addition I do not know how to ensure that my commision will actually be paid. Here people are not trusted. This is a real problem to me because I have been cheated in the past.

Thanks Pal. I will try your suggestion. Consultancy business could be really good.I wonder if I need to consult on a specific line or or all the lines that I do. In fact, come to think about it, I have no specific line...I do every thing that comes my way.

If you have that ability can I take you with me? lol. I'm just joking, don't worry. What I think is you need to use that ability to help those who really need your ability; not the highest paying. Yeah, you can get rich because of them but they're going richer because of you. But how would you feel, in knowing, that this person who was so poor got rich because of you? As far as I know, the people with real humane hearts are the poor. They do not forget kindness especially those who experienced the situation where they lived lower than rats in the sewers just to survive. If you are able to help them, they would be your best friends for all time. You may not have money like the rich later, but you would have people that are always there ready to help you for all time. If you are good with free lancing, I don't think you should settle under a career that would bind you to one master. Be your own master and enjoy the freedom you have. It's something worth more than gold/anything with financial value in this material world.

I'm just kidding when I said, I'll take you with me...Seriously. lol And I'm not a seer or magician or psychic (I still wonder why but people just seem to ask me that whenever I chat with them...^^;) Okay, those things aside, being ears to people in trouble is not such a bad thing, according to my point of view. But I can also understand that more often than not, being ears, you also in some point share their burden. You also somehow carry their problems by thinking of ways on how to help that person. Most problems that people are faced with can only be solved by the person who was plagued with it. According to what you shared, that is true. But they couldn't have reached the conclusion that can solve their problem if they always think "how heavy my problem is". By lending them your ears, you're lending them some of your strength by carrying some of their burden; You also freed them enough that they can think properly and find the solution to their problems themselves. My advice, take a break from listening sometimes. And use the time for recreational activities or try telling others of your "problems" as well. It would not do well if you only take in other people's problems without freeing some. Just like how you can't fill in a full cup. I'd go crazy in that situation. Sometimes, if I find myself in a dilemma and I have nobody to talk to, I talk to my subconsciousness. (Yep, I'm really going crazy...talking to myself and stuff). But I found that talking to my subconsciousness okay than nothing. I also try to do it privately or people will think that I'm losing it.lol. If I can't talk, I write down my problems in a paper and I'll think that the problems I wrote down is written by another person. Try not to think about the problem, but focus on how the person can actually solve his/her problem. You'll be surprised how you can easily solve your own problem just by doing this. Remember to never over exert yourself too much. You can have a diary. Build a blog and write down your thoughts, your problems, their problems, experiences and others. Maybe just by blogging you can get an income yourself, without charging other people a dime...I know I'd write down those things and try to get something from it aside from headaches. Hope this helps a bit. And Enjoy MyLotting!

Hi Friend...Are you a seer or something to that effect...may be a prophet of some kind? I am actually surrounded by the poor...sometimes the poorest of the poor...those who have not had a proper meal for days...sometimes I have nothing to offer them but my ears...I listen ...and listen...and listen..and.. wonderfuly ...some how...after lending them my ears for hours...sometimes for days...They find their own solutions to their problems. This is my major problem...its my major weakness..I am always there for others... and most of them need more help than me...frankly speaking I can't charge them a dime...but nobody is there for me...not even me.

Evaluate yourself first. What can make you happy? Is having a career can give you self-fulfillment? Are you willing to work 9-6, 5 days a week? Or do you want to start your own business? If you are happy what you are doing, success will follow...:)

Frankly, starting my own business would be the best option. But capital availability in the third world is a real limiting factor. I have very many business ideas but people hunt for me to get them for peanuts. This is very frustrating.

I see your point, honeypals. Consider starting a small business with small capital. I am talking based on my personal experience. I started selling bond papers to our neighboring offices. The profit was too minimal. When I had enough capital, I venture on other business. Loading business also does not require huge capital. Another option is to become an agent. Real Estate Agent offers big commissions.

Thanks Pal. Your advice is not only timely but also very sound. I will definitely try it. Plant one seed, water it, and there you are, you have a basket full of seeds. Aren't these farmers faithful. I think I should gather courage and be like a farmer. Frankly speaking, I wish I had the faith of a farmer.

None of our advice will really help you, because all we can do is tell you but you have to do it and you can only do it when you feel like it, or when you know this is what I want to do in life, this is how I want to live my life. So I would suggest, take a pen and paper and jot down the dreams you want to accomplish, and how you want to be known in life. That's all I believe you need to do, to find the right path for your self- a career or no career. Best of luck my friend. Happy New Year!

Thanks my friend. I will make short term resolutions. They will actually be for one year but I will keep revieing them every three months. One year is too long and any resolutions I make in January are either done or forgoten by march.

Hahahaha...hahahahaaa...Trying friend...just trying...you know what! somebody, 2000 years ago, Said birds of the air neither plant nor reap but somebody feeds them...and daily for that matter...and morning after morning they wake up to chant their praises and thanks for they are certain of one thing...they will not skip a meal. Trust me, I am that bird of the air. No career! and yet I feed...one day at a time. Yes, I roll and roll and roll...but unfortunately I gather no moss.

Why not start your own business then. Something that you won't run by yourself- or let others do it for you, as you said, your touch can turn things into money.

Thanks alotfor the suggestion. Come to think about, nobody has made alot of money by doing things by himself. The art of making money is to make money even while sleeping...meaning obviously, others are doing it for you. Eureka...Eureka...business it is business then! Capital.. Capital...this keeps ringing in my head but I have the faith and I know I will make it.

Most people do earn money through their career paths. But making money is not limited to having a career. You just have to identify the things that you are good at and most likely to enjoy doing. Then, from there, try to evaluate options that can make money doing what you really want. Sometimes, it is just the case of identifying once strengths and weaknesses. Once they have known their personality, they tend to seek out how to utilize their personalities to make money. Always, always try to improve your skills and further increase your knowledge. This will help you in the long run in gaining wealth. There is nothing wrong with you. You are part of most of the people not having money and not yet realizing their full potentials. The good thing is that you still have the time to try and realize your potentials while some others already gave up and settled down in being poor.

Thanks friend. Your response is wonderful. I will try to identify my strengths and weakenesses. I wonder if there is a particular formulae that can make this task easy for me. I must also admit that I am scared of learning my weakenesses. I think knowing them will drag me deeper into what I fear most....FAILURE.

may be people think you have no job. but i think youd do have. most people just think having formal jobs, work in office, wearing good shirt and tie around neck, go in the morning and back at dusk. but we can see now many people make money from what most people call "lazyness", sitting in front of computer, googling. bt it works and make money. so, you have jobs, but the job you dont doesnt have a name to call. good job

You are right. I have odd jobs..sometimes five jobs in one day. What I do not have is a career. I count myself lucky because there are those who cannot put a meal on their table in the evening but I am lucky food is not an issue.

For me, it's better to start with a career. I recommend to start working with any company. Not only you can earn fix income monthly, but also at the same time you can find other extra or alternative way to earn some more money. By having fix income, you start your business, whichever you like.

Thanks friend. Fixed income is the answer - that is what I really need. But unemployment here in Kenya is very high. Most companies are retrenching.

Most certainly, Yes! You should find a career... A career defines your personality... Who knows, the charm that you have for others will work for you... Find out what are you good at... If you are not able to do that then go to a career counseller... You'll get guidance based on your qualifications & skills... Good Luck!

Thanks for your kind advice. I think career counsellors in Kenya, my country, are mostly teachers and they are too theoritical. I wonder if you know of a correspondence counsellor who can help me.

Thank you for your kind advice. I would really like to start a business but businesses require alot of capital. How to raise the capital is my greatest problem. Unemployment rate in Kenya is also vey high. Therefore finding an employer to pay me my true value is a problem.

Hello Honeypals, Certainly one has to settle down to a career at a certain age.I think you too should settle down and i hope once you will settle down you could be able to earn money for yourself. There is nothing wrong in you sometimes it happens when person thinks of others more than him/herself i think you must start thinking of yourself now if you want your life to be comfortable.

Thank you for this wonderful revelation. I think I have been thinking of others more than myself. I have been there for everybody, my family, my relatives, my neibhours, my friends, but never for myself. I feel hapy and fulfiled when helping but I finally end up frustrated and regretting. I actually feel used. This is very frustrating.
