Where will you take your holidays

Where will you be going for your summer vacation and what do you expect to find. I ask this question because after several years of taking two holidays a year. One in Britain and one of at least two weeks at the end of a flight to other parts of Europe, we will probably stay in Britain.

I only usually go somewhere locally. I am working in the travel industry so it is hard for me to take a leave for so long because it is the peak season. So I just tend to pick a beach and stay there for 2 or 3 days.

There are many beaches near where I live within the 50 mile radius. Good thing our beaches are safe to swim at and during summer it is all sun with some occasional showers...

Sounds ideal to me, are there many trees. I ask bout trees because I spent a month in Cyprus last year and apart from the Trudos mountains there were not many trees and the beaches were really hot.

Hi doggyimon do you have many beaches close by. Where I live is about 26 miles to the nearest beach but the beach is large and the tide is rarely in. The biggest problem in Britain is that we rarely have a week of sun even in the peak summer months.

I live in the US. If I can afford a holiday I usually go to a little resort town in the mountains near where i live. There is a beautifual lake there and i like to go watch the sail boats. Or I go shopping in the little boutiques around the lake. Eating fish at one of the restaurants is nice also. We stay in a nice motel with a hot tub. It is nice and enjoyable.

It is really a nice spot. I like to go to some place that is totally different from where I live when I vacation.

Always a good idea, we like to have variation. My holidays to foreign countries have always provided a wide spectrum. Cyprus last year appeared to be mainly farming, with potatoes (three crops a tear from the same plot) water melons and tomatoes being widely grown.

I live in Great Britain. I have to travel to different countries in the world for my happiness. In March and April I will be traveling to Argentina and Chile. I am very keen on traveling to interesting places with my two young children. Last year we traveled to Colombia's coastline and loved it there. The year before last we visited Canada and fell in love with lovely Vancouver. I suggest a last minute vacation as seen on travel agents windows if you have two weeks free. Good luck with any travel plans that you will make.

Hi maximax I know you are a traveller from previous posts and what a good idea taking the last minute offers for best prices and in today's situation those offers may be better deals.

Holidays? What are they? Honestly, I have not had a vacation in, umm, it has to be 23 years now. I rented a cottage at a beach on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland when my oldest son was 6 years old. He actually turned 7 while we were there and invited family to visit for the day to have his birthday party and have fun at this private beach. I think that had to be my favorite vacation because we could come and go as we pleased, stay out on the beach all night long if we wanted (but we didn't want to, we were always too tired and waterlogged by nightfall and wanted a nice, warm bed. lol). I live in the mountains now and would gladly trade places for a week or two (in the summer) with anyone who currently lives near a beach or ocean. The summers here have too many bugs for my liking. I live in Virginia now, still on the east coast of the US and both Maryland and Virginia have some AWESOME beaches along the coastline and along the Chesapeake Bay. I'd highly recommend any one of them if you're ever on this side of the pond!

Hi mentalward, what a fantastic recommendation. You have outlined such a wonderful holiday location and it all revolves around nature and all places I have heard of and I guess that is because of films and TV. At my age and costs involved I will probably never visit the states but in the past have always fancied New England and the Grand Canyon as places I would have liked to visit.

Probably will spend my holiday here in my hometown, the economy is in bad shape, my bank account also is shrinking rapidly, can't really afford to go on vacation in this coming holiday with higher than normal gasoline prices, air plane ticket and hotel fees, but stay put around home town to have a quiet holiday and shoot the breeze with friends. It will cost a lot lesser and affordable for this year budget. Plan for travelling to other places had to be sheleved for this year until the cost of travel come down. My friend!

Well understand your problem lamps, in much the same situation myself. Just listening to our prime minister on TV telling us that he runs a sleeves up government who are doing all they can to cut there costs and helping the small employer to employ more people. In actual fact what he is doing is making welfare reforms which actually makes it very difficult for people without jobs to meet there costs of living. You have the same reasons for staying at home as myself, we will however take a family (tent) camping holiday with grandchildren included. This holiday will be taken on the first week of the Olympics and will be on the south coast with lots of lovely beaches available. Gas will cost about £1.28p ? ltr. my car doing about 9 miles to the ltr. and distance to resort being about 80 miles. Hope the costs can be met.

I do not have any prospect since I don't have the means. But, If I were given a chance for free, I would choose Europe to Paris, London and the whole provinces of Spain. Will stay there for as long as I want if it is possible, lol.

Hi sabado can you tell me if most people in your country take regular summer holidays. In Britain most people take a summer holiday because the weather is not that good and we really appreciate some sunshine.

We have two seasons here, the rainy and dry. Most of us spent our holidays during March and April for 3 reasons. First, School vacation. Second, Semana Santa (holy week or easter season) and Lastly, it is Summer. So most of us wants to go to the beach and relax under the sun

For 2012, I have 3 travels lined up, 1 overseas and 2 domestic. All do not fall during the summer. And until now, I still don't have plans for it as well. It all depends on the budget. It's quite a constraint right now because I want to continue another project I've started 3 years ago so I'm really scrimping on travel expense . But again, it all depends on friends' plans. If it's affordable, then I might be able to squeeze another trip in the summer. I'd also like to visit Europe someday. I'll make it happen by hook or by crook!

Be careful, when your counterparts come to England they tend to stay for a long time. Their children seem to fit in well in our schools. All the best for the new year.

My husband and I just came home from a 7 day cruise Dec 10th to17th. It was our Christmas gift to each other. I want to take my son on this cruise we went on so I hope to take him in December. Then my husband and I are saving money to go on an Alaska Cruise in September 2013. I work with a travel specialist so I am able to get some pretty good pricing and have time to pay for the cruise before we leave. And once you are on the cruise the only thing you have to pay for is your excursions and gratuities. We just go get on board and can eat all we want. My husband and I don't drink or spend our money on Casinos so we are happy just to be on the ocean and enjoy a lot of the ship entertainment. And they always have first run movies either on a big screen on the deck or you can watch them various times on your tv in the privacy of your room. And now they are offering movies on demand to offer more movies. So with us getting older we tend to do a cruise and just relax within all the luxury of the ship and a private balcony. Good Luck where ever you go next vacation!

Hi marie when we go on holiday we tend to look around the places we visit to take in the archaeology which is why we visit Greece a lot. Although cruise ships are really big you are still confined which is the reason I don't fancy cruising but can can see that it would be very relaxing.
