How do you understand this verse? John 5:17 New Living Translation (NLT) 17 But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.” John 5:17 King James Version (KJV) 17But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. John 5:17 American Standard Version (ASV) 17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work.

Jesus does rest but not his Father. That 's what I understand from the above verses How are you going to interpret those verses, too?

So when in Genesis it says that God rested, it just means that he stopped doing one thing and kept doing trillions of other things. God needs no rest. He created the sun and the sun has been shining for billions of years and will continue to who knows when. God has no need of rest.

Because the process of creation is ongoing - every minute of the day, every day of every year, God really is never done with his work. Each new child that is born, every seeds that sprouts into a sampling, every new species that apprears on earth, is a part of the ongoing process of God's creation.

This is nothing but Biblical nonsense, our Almighty Creator never need to relax like human beings, the Bible is edited many times by the hand of men, and yet still there are contradictions and scientific absurdities, The Holy Qura'n says: [050:038] We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.

Salam Alaicum Torah = Old Testament Bible = Second Testament Qura'n = Third Testament - the last edition perhaps in this generation..

God is perfect, therefore He is not subject to the stress of working as we are. He took a break, or rested, in order to enjoy His creation. The text is made for us, His human creation, to learn that we must take a day of rest every week in order to be refreshed and renewed. Otherwise, our bodies will break down from the stress, we will get sick faster because our immune systems are not built up. We see this now in the USA, many people have stress related illness that is slowly killing them because they work too much and do not rest for a day.

I honestly believe that God does not rest, even. Being the creator of all mankind, it is I think a big unforgiving offense if we believe that he rested. I have faith and conviction in God and I do not want to put my soul in jeopardy... lol

Yes but I was saying, I have faith in God, faith with convictions, therefore, my mind, soul, every thing in me, must be clear. Loving him and keeping his commandments without the said above reasons may put my soul in Jeopardy. I just want to make sure that the faith I was saying is not futile.

There's nothing wrong in relaxing as long as we are referring to human beings. :-D But I somewhat agree that sometimes we also need to relax and bond with God at least during sundays...hehehe

God must have relaxed on the seventh day as proposed :) That must have given him the power of eternal relaxation

Who proposes, Bobo! God is not a human being that if someone has seen him tired, weak or in need of rest can ask Him to take a rest

I think He is workaholic. No time... or rather don't want to relax because His all creations has many things to do and be updated... I don't even want Him to rest because maybe if He rest we will go in freeze too... I really don't know... it's just my thinking... a very silly thinking!

"For somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in these words: 'on the seventh day God rested from all His works'."-- Hebrews 4:4 Considering the above verse, the word "rest" should not be taken as though He was exhausted from work but rather be understood as "cease from work" upon His works of creation. The truth is the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ are working continuously: "But Jesus answered them, 'my Father worketh hitherto, and I work.'" -- John 5:17

Why does the bible either did the appostles emphasize that God rested then? Wasn't it a big offense in respect to the Lord the Almighty creator?
