hi friends.most of you might remember Dhoni saying about wanting to quit one format so he can concentrate on extending his ODI careers and be ready for the 2015 world cup blah blah blah. we dont wanna discuss about whether he will be in the team by the time 2015 because it has almost 3 years left. so we shift to other one where he said he wanna quit one format by 2013.ok. now one has to extremely dull to suggest that Dhoni might quit either ODI or T20/IPL to prolong his career. so lets assume he is thinking about quitting test in a year. lucky for him we dont have any away test this year.clever. so we are talking about 12 months down the road. but question is can Dhoni sustain his place in the playing X1 for the next 12 months? i mean he lost 7 test in a trot (funny how people forgot that he never lost a test match before england series ),his captaincy which was praised is under critisicm ( i didnt see any noticable change in his tactics just different results ),suddenly people starts looking at the Dhoni the batsman who was almost invisible to find behind the thick veil of CAPTAIN COOL,CAPTAIN COURAGEOS and all the accolades people gave him (the same people who now says he is not so good ). he didn't do himself any good by showing his hands that he might wanna quit test in a year which started the question whether Dhoni really wanted test captaincy or just force fed? so the question he wanna quit test in a year but will he be given that option?

I do not think that Dhoni should leave the workplace by 2013 because it is obvious that he cannot accustom with the plan of around the world cricket. For me he should think significantly before getting this option.

Every man having different prospective of thinking and he is living in 2 different world, one is career profession another is personal world. I can smell some kind of criticism in your thoughts. What if he resign Cricket at this moment? What will happen, if he says, we will must win the next world cup? C'mon he is also having his personal life, so might be some person reasons he wants to quit in test Cricket. We should not bother about players want to play test, ODI, T20/IPL. It's his choice of matter. After many many years we won World Cup under his captaincy. Mistakes are human but We should not forget his good performance. For me he is a GREAT Cricketer and Great Man, In twitter he rocks having maximum followers in India. It's not a matter of your choice or our choice or Cricket board selector's choice. It's only his matter of choice. He is also human being, he have rights to live his life like he wanted.

Hello allenwebstar, in the coming match Virender Sehwag is going to guide India. What do you think about Sehwag's captaincy? Can he manage at least a draw ?

Dhoni must be cursing his stars for making that statement about his plans to retire from one format of the game to be able to play in 2015. Lot of senior players like Saurav Ganguly, Kapil Dev --- criticized him left right and center for making that statement particularly at the time when the team is doing so badly and he himself out of form so badly. Many expressed doubt whether selectors will allow him to take that decision instead they may prefer to take that decision for him. Next world cup is in Australia and if he does not perform now on these pitches how he expects selectors to pick him three years down the line to play on same pitches.

Yeah, Ganguly and Kapil DEV have slammed him for such poor timing of comment. Really it was an unexpected behavior from a captain. Instead of cheering up his team he is wishing to quit in such a crucial time of the series!!

Dhoni was and offcourse is in trouble always for making runs and in test he never was perfect in controlling his performance. He downgraded his perfromance in odi as well. Except that final match he didn't perform well in any of the match in final and take all credit in his name. INDIA IS COUNTRY OF FOLLS AND WE ALL ARE FOOL. One a player formed good in few match he fixed in team for many long time though he did perform good or not. Same is with sachin also but what we call him little master and all love him what he did in past doesn't mean he is for team forever and when he start performing good he take rest as he he orgsnises the play then why didn't dhoni do the same. Why the politics is only played to those player who are not from big cities? Sachin is from mubai so we all favour snd Dhoni from ranchi not well in comparision to hell mumbai is axed. If justis is to dome then rule must be apply to all player whether he made 99 cenuries or 0 .

This information about Dhoni's retirement was the most discussed topic in my locality. I too have a doubt that whether he can continue his test career for one more year. May be he is efficient, brilliant, talented in ODIs and t20s, but he has not yet made his mark in test cricket .

I do not think that Dhoni should retire by 2013 because it is obvious that he cannot accustom with the busy schedule of international cricket. For me he should think deeply before taking this decision.

I think that is the million dollar question. If Dhoni cannot start performing with his bat, then he will be losing his place in the team shortly. For now he is captain cool and plays as a captain. But as you pointed out we do not have too many overseas tours till 2013, so that will favor him. Cheers! Ram

Great question. I think if he continue to perform with his bat and keeping gloves this way ( no need to talk on his captaincy now as it is already doubted by many), he will be automatically axed by the selector(though I guess they will term this as 'given rest' ). And with current praising of Kirmani about Saha, terming him as technically perfect with keeping gloves and good match for test cricket, it will be tough for Dhoni to keep going in test. As you have stated that his failure in batting was overshadowed by his 'captain cool' title so far. But currently his poor captaincy, which aussies has termed as weakest ever for any visiting team, is under scanner and has revealed his performance with bat and keeping. It is so clever of Dhoni that he had guessed the situation in advance and wished to quit test. Hope he gets a chance to quit before getting axed.
