Charlie - Most un-pit pit bull around!

And I don't mean the human kind, I'm referring to Pit bulls. I use to think that all of them should be gotten rid of, until I had one come into my life. It's not my dog, but my Fire chief's and he was an abandoned dog found by a friend of his. I have to admit, he is the sweetest dog ever, and he loves meeting new people, doesn't matter where he is. We even took him to our annual fire academy, and he was a big hit with everyone! So, since being around him I also have a group on my facebook, that is a Pit bull awareness group out of Austin, Texas. And they are doing wonderful things to show the public that it is not the breed, but how people treat and raise them to fight or be mean. I now have one of his (Charlie) pups, her name is Chainsaw and is so much like him, she love's people. So, what is your stance on pit bulls?

oh boy haha I'm going to keep this short as I could rant about this all day long... Pit bulls are the most misunderstood breed. I have one of my own and she is the sweetest thing ever. little kids can put there hands in her mouth and pull on her ears and tail n she just looks at me like "help mom". It is how people raise them that give them a bad name. Any dog can be turned into a bully. I have worked with aggressive dogs for about six years now. rehabilitating them and teaching them all over again. I have been very successful with it and I have learned a great deal about them. Pits are one of the most loyal breeds and will do whatever it takes to protect their owner and family.

So true! And as I said I use to be one of those that 'hated' the breed. Now, since Charlie........I'm on to the awareness side of the table. My lil granddaughter plays with him all the time, and he just goes along with it LOL

countrygirl12989..It is so important to keep telling people this since most of us have heard horrific stories of pit bulls mauling their owners and others...When I see them now I remind myself that there are more good ones than bad ones...

Pit bulls can be very friendly dogs it is all depends on how the owner raise them. Like any other dog if you train them to be bad then they will be bad if you raise them to be good they will be good.

I do not like pit bulls before because they are not cute. However, this changed when I met a scary pit bull and I saw it looking at me and his short tail wagging. As if he wants me to approach him and touch him. Since then, I love pit bulls already or other scary looking dogs. I love dogs generally so I don't look at their outside appearance.

chiwasaki ..I think this is a case where you have to love them before you think they could be called cute in any way...

palonghorn..I have bought into the reputation that pit bulls are dangerous. I still believe the breeding caused them to be vicious..now I understnd this is not true of all of them but I would not own a pit bull..but I have and would own Dobermans
