I have been with Mypoints for a couple years now and with a few other sites as well that I work on to earn points or cents to cash in for gift cards. In the past, my goal was always to build up my gift cards for restaurants from the beginning of the year to summer time so when my kids are out of school I can take them out to eat on the gift cards. Well this year, I have decided to start getting store gift cards... this is going to work out to my advantage now that I am using coupons and saving where I can...now my goal is to build up my gift cards with walmart, Target, Kmart, etc.... where I can purchase things and take my kids out to play at parks and pack a better lunch with things that I will have gotten for cheaper....and a better choice for us to eat healthier. Have you decided to make any changes this year?? even a little change can make such a difference!! thanks for sharing and Happy Mylotting!

So far it's only been one month (not even one month) into the year, and George (my husband) and I are planning to try to pay off a few debts so I can have a little more money in my pocket at the end of the month. (hopefully). I'm not sure this will happen, but its a goal we've been talking about. Life has gotten more expencive. The cost of living isnt and won't meet what people actually make. Getting help is ... impossible. Or, so it seems and I've seen people in worse shape than I. However, given things how they are I do hope to better do things. improve where I can of course. But, I'm not rasing my expetations or getting my hopes too high either. I'm realistiic in trying to get what I want.

I completely understand, as it is we now have 3 kids, so our house is so much smaller, a 2 bedroom house with 5 people living in it and only 2 closets (its a very small house) and we want to put the house up for sale in a year so we can get a bigger house eventually. Which is why I need to save as much as I can and start a savings account. good luck with your goal...you can do it!! we just have to stay focused!! Happy Mylotting. :)

I have a goal to be able to pay for all of our christmas gifts at the end of the year. I have managed to do this for the past few years. I would like to have a bit extra to pay down a bit on our mortgage. We are living within our budget and I would like to go on a trip soon.

thats a very good goal. I want to go on a trip too with my family but for now we really need to focus on the house and putting money in the savings so we can start looking for a bigger house. Keep up the good work on your budget!! happy Mylotting.

I haven't done too much to make any changes....seriously. I had in the past year decided to use my time on the things that I value as my most important....like keeping the house perfectly clean in not as important as using my time at home doing things I enjoy....like my crafting. Sound like a good change you made though!

Its so hard for me to ignore the house...well with 3 kids, they can make a mess...and even knowing that when I clean something up it will be messy again in 5 minutes I still end up cleaning the same mess 10 times a day....oh well!! I should make that a switch up, but if my hubby came home from working and saw the house in a disaster I know he would think I have lost my mind. I really need to clean less and get more computer time in, which I am trying to do...as it is I have been on mylot now everyday for almost the whole month of January. and my earnings have gone up everyday.... Keep up the crafting, eventually I am thinking of bringing in some crafts to try with my kids and I was also thinking of something that I could make to sell at craft shows but that is a long away goal for me. Happy mylotting.

Hi bookreadermom08. My goal this year is to save for my and my kids' airfare for a holiday overseas. I have calculated the estimate costs of everything which includes pocket money for that trip. I have to do a bit of change in handling my weekly budget. If last year, I had to wait for the end of the week and see how much was left from the weekly budget and save it. NOW, from the time I get my weekly budget at the start of the week, I take a certain amount straightaway, put it in my savings and whatever is left will be the budget for the week. So, savings first before budgeting the remaining amount. There are few other changes that I impose on myself this year, financially, mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically. I think so far I am doing really good.
