My son is ADHD and does not sleep!

Okay so my son is ADHD and he does not sleep for more than 2 hours at a time. Oh sorry is 9 and is on a non-stimulate medication. The medication works really well, but he does not seem to sleep that much. He always looks well rested in the morning, but I hear him every couple of hours getting up, playing for 30 minutes and then he goes back to bed. I was wondering if maybe he is sleep walking/playing. Has anyone else have a similar problem or a way of figuring out what is going on? I already talked to his doctors and they are not concerned since he is much calmer on the medication, but he is on the second floor and I would hate for him to hurt himself trying to go down the stairs if he is sleep walking. Thanks for any help.

Can you insist on a sleep study? I've read where people come in and sleep in a lab where they are hooked up to computers so that doctors can see what their brains are doing. I know my son wakes up every 2 or 3 hours, but he usually just murmurs to himself for a few minutes and then falls back asleep. I think this is normal, it's just how long his sleep cycle is. But he doesn't wake up enough that he gets up and plays.

Yeah it gets really confusing. It makes it to where I do not sleep so well because I think he is up and then I go and check on him. I might have him see a new doctor just to make sure that there is nothing I can do beyond keeping an eye on him.
