It seems that when thin men get married, usually they will become fatter and fatter after a few years. I wonder whether this is because their wives take good care of them. They hardly will have abnormal meal time. The lives have settled down. This seems to be a fact.

Usually true but not always. I think this happen because now most of us do desk job and sitting all days and rare to do some excercise. If you ever met a married men who work as gym instructor, you will see that most of them are still in a good shape.

I used to exercise a lot and lift weights. After a while, my busy schedule kept creeping up on me and I found myself saying, "I'll exercise tomorrow when I'm less busy." Well, silly me. I was never "less busy" because some activity will just fill up all my free time. Anyway, I'm now a bit older and wiser. And I have decided to schedule my exercises and displace the less important activities like watching TV.

Sometimes, yes. The reason for this is that there is usually more stress, and that can be the hard part.

Stress can be damaging, and men do face a lot of stress when they are married.

Interesting to know that the stress will make you gain more weights.

Hi youless, observing from the people I know around it's true that most of the married men would gain weights easily after their marriage for some time. But my husband is excluded. He is the type of person who could hardly gain any weight even though he takes more food than all the family members daily. Many friends envy him having such a good appetite and could eat a lots often. May be he is the type of person who likes to exercise everyday regularly even during rainy day. His third sister thought that I haven't taken good care of him when seeing him never gained any weight after the marriage when she first paid a visit to us after a couple of year after the wedding he is as thin as before. She realized by seeing the fact finally that her brother could eat a lot but hardly gaining any weight after staying with us for some days

Anyway majority would gain weight if they don't control their daily diet. May be in many people's eyes you and my husband are persons of fortunate who don't have to worry even though taking lots of food often

It depends on the couple. I have noticed, though, that if one partner is overweight, usually the other will follow suit. The reason for this would be that one partner influences the other in terms of eating and exercise habits. That is true for both men and women. If one partner is a heavy consumer of fast food, it is likely that his or her partner will end up following suit. It would then follow that (s)he would likely gain weight due to this change in diet. Since the pair is settled, there is less incentive to lose weight. There is a tendency to slack once one has "won" a partner. This is one of the reasons why a sudden increase in exercise or interest in diet is sometimes a sign that one's partner is cheating; he/she is one the "hunt" again and is trying to impress someone he/she hasn't "won" into a settled relationship.

Men will gain weight after marriage because their lifestyle has changed for the better. There is plenty of food and love in the house and less physical activities as most of it is either shared or taken care of by the wife.

There is an old ditty in the UK which goes like this ... When to the age of 40 we come, the men go to belly and, the women to bum. It seems so true!

Yes, i too have noted this fact that men put on weight after they get married. This shows tha they get good food at home, that their wives love them very much and that they are quite happy and comfortably settled in their life. Moreover they must be financially well settled in life which makes them look prospered.

I don't think all think men grow 'fatter' after marriage. I think some have good cooks in their wives and may gain afew pounds. What you speak of is not at all the usual and ongoing in all cases.

I think the presence or lack of strenuous physical exercise will determine how much fat we accumulate in our bodies. This is understandable because marriage brings additional responsibilities that men and women devote less time to exercise than they did when they were single. Anyway, I just bought a book recently and after reading it, I rediscovered the importance of weightlifting especially when we get older. Since I stopped exercising, I've grown fatter and less healthy. From now on, I have decided that I will make time for exercise no matter how busy my schedule gets.

I think it is because their wives take a good care of them~(^^) Some said that when men gain more weight after married it shows that they are happy with their life...(^^) hehe...I think both men and women after they get married they will be changes in their appearances. It shows that they both are happy with their life and starting to feel lazy to take a good care of themselves..Just kidding...I would say it depends on how they take care of themselves. If they want to stay healthy and fit they will surely eat goo and exercise good.. My main point is both men and women need to have a healthy lifestyle no matter if they already married or single. That is what will guarantee them to have a happy and better life..Women need to cook healthy menu so their husbands will not gain more weight~(^^)

It is not matter of whether there is a woman who takes care of him or not. Most of them are just lazy to exercise. There are so many men who are married and still look very good since they exercise. This also happens to most women that once they get married, it is as if they have reached their last goal in life and keeping good shape becomes of less concern anymore.

Yes I do agree with this. When a guy is trying to woe a girl and get in a relationship with her they will stay in shape and workout and try to interest her in them. I know this because I have done it. Though once they are in a relationship for a while they gradually stop doing this as much. Until eventually they no longer work out at all. The same goes with women to. They become comfortable and no longer see a reason to stay in shape because they have the person they wanted.

This is very possible. After you already got married and your goal is finished. You don't have to do something to attract your spouse all the time as well as in the past.

I think this happens to men and women, I think they put it down to contentment, I put it down to the fact that when people finally het married after awhile they stop trying a bit and let themselves go, a bit like I have the certicicate I don't have to try anymore...sad really.
