It seems to me that many have left laptop and turned to tablets. Can tablets really replace laptops in terms of functionality? The result of this discussion will determine whether I will buy a tablet or not. Thank for sharing.

Get a tablet if you just want to browse and place some light games. I would prefer laptop to tablet. Though laptop is not as efficient in mobility compared to tablet but it has a lot of benefits. You can get the best game with best graphic on laptop. If your working, you can do your project , with PowerPoint. Or so. Further more, you can watch movies online. Tablet such as iPad, iPod ,iPhone do no have adobe flash player thus, you cannot watch movies online. So yea. The best choice would still be getting both.

In this case tablet can not replace all functionality that laptop has, can it? However, I am positive that in the future, we can do all types of work on tablet. You know technology advancement is flying quickly. We have to keep tabs on it.

well, if you are willing to wait till then. I agree that in time to come tablets will surpass laptops. Still, in the present, i would prefer laptop. haha :D well it all come down to what do you want from them. For gaming, for working, for web browsing, for light gaming, facebook, twiter.. etc. i would personally recommend tablets for facebook , tweeting , web browsing and light gaming though. other than tat, i would prefer laptop :D So yea.

I have just recently purchased a new laptop as well. When I was inthe process of determinig whether or not I wanted a laptopr a tablet it really came down to how I would use it. I surveyed many people with the tablet and they indicated that it was really good for surfing the net, but when it came down to school work or working on it, they still used computers and therefore they needed both. The se of tablet was more for convienence to the internet and email rather than an all encompassing item. Hope this helps.

That's right, we need both. Laptop will do you good when we have lots of work to finish on computer. Some use tablets to work as well but they do it while they are on the go, such as on the bus, in a queue, etc.

i still think that laptops are better than tablets. it is still very much easier to write and post on forums and to work on laptops than laptops. :D depends of course where you will use your tablet in case you buy some...

I agree with you. I will think of having a tablet because I am always on the move. When I go to the bank, I spend a long time in a queue, so using a tablet I can still keep in touch with all mylotters. Don't you think so?

Can you mylot using a laptop while standing in a queue? I don't think you can because if you do it people around will look at you in confusion. But if you do it with a tablet, you won't become a center of an attraction.

I would go for laptop over tablet. Though tablet is small, light and portable, but they lack the functions of a laptop. Besides, price of a tablet doesn't differ much from a laptop, and so why not get something more reliable? Tablets have a shelf life of 2 years or even earlier when new models start appearing. With that, when do we decide enough is enough? In the long run, we are just wasting money on tablets that, just to follow the trend.

Tablet is more or less like mobile phones, which develops very quickly. If we plan to buy a tablet, we also have to be ready to keep tabs on it, as new products with new design and features change very quickly. The best way is that we still rely on our own laptop, and have a tablet to be used only when we are on the go. Agree?

It all depend on how you will use it for. If you only use it for simple tasks like browsing, chatting, simple gaming, and so on then you better buy a tablet because it is simple to carry and use. But if you will use it for harder tasks like multitasking, graphic designing, high visual/hardcore gaming, and other hard tasks then you should choose laptop since the specification of laptop almost similiar to PC. If you ask me, i'm prefer choosing laptop than a tablet for long time use and also i like to play games with great graphic. So you better think carefully wath you need before you buy either laptop or tablet. Hope you get the best one for your need. Happy mylotting...

Thank for sharing, br3ndy. I think most of us have the same preference. Tablet is not used mainly for our work. It is used only when we are on the move.

i still prefer laptop because tablets now are just smartphone with a better display on the contrary laptop is fullly functional and so it is powerful and give you the possibility to work better than tablet which normally they are suitable just for passive contents and not active ones!!

It depends on the situation, but of course, I choose laptop. I use laptop all the time, but if tablets will replace laptop and has many features on it in the future, I would choose tablets if it is not too expensive to buy. I just go with the flow if it benefits me in the future, I would choose that thing -- but if laptops has many features than a tablets and if a tablets would not surpass laptop then, I would still remain to choose a laptop forever. It is like computer and a manual typewriter. From the past, we all used a manual typewriter. There is even an electronic typewriter then, computer came and surpass a manual typewriter. It is so embarassing to use a manual typewriter all the time if a computer has many features on it than a manual typewriter.

Hi there bro, I prefer Laptop because it still has more functions compared to tablet, like DVD player and burner, and has more USB slots, and is more stable so it is still laptop for me, oh and you can type much much easier!

May be they will replace laptops in future because they are easy to carry than a laptop. But beside their small size their ram are very short sized. But they are having all function a laptop have.

I think so, but tablet's ram is now as big as the laptop's. As far as typing is concerned, I think laptops are still much more comfortable. I plan to buy one because I am always on the move. Bringing a laptop sometimes cumbersome.
