My account was limited...again!

I just got an email from paypal today telling me my account was limited. I had a lot of funds in there from mystery shopping (the only way some of the companies pay). There was a notice that one of the purchases I made was under investigation and I really don't understand it. What do those guys have against us making a little bit of money (I purchased an affiliate page on a ptr site). I tried to find a way to dispute that because the last time there was information on how to unlimit the account, but I didn't find a link to do that. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Try visiting the Resolution Center. My husband's PayPal account is currently limited (his World of Warcraft account was hacked and they got into his PayPal account, too), and that's where all of the information about the limitation is. Here's the direct link to the page: https://www.paypal.com/us/http://cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=http://_complaint-view/

I did visit the resolution center and the only thing I saw was that they sent an email to the site owner that I had made a purchase from. I hope it is something really simple like that and that when they hear back from her they will release the limitation. This is the second time this has happened to me and I have been really careful since the last time. aaarrrggghhh!!!

That's really odd. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably call customer service and ask about it. That way you would know for sure if the account's still limited.

right...I just don't like the idea that they have over $100 of my money and that I won't be able to access it for 45 days if they decide not to activate it again!

I think you better report this to Paypal. I get e-mails about once a month like this. It's a phishing scam. I think someone is trying to get your account information. Here's the e-mail address to send it to Paypal. spoof@Paypal.com Since it says one of your purchases is under investigation, that leads me to believe that it is a scam. Do they address you by name, or does it just say Paypal member? If it's addressing you by name, it's real, if not, it's a scam.

Unfortunately, when I logged into my paypal account, it was actually limited. It was not a phishing email (unless they went into my account and changed it. The email didn't say anything about the investigation. That was something I saw when I went into the resolution center.

Hi! I guess your account has been hacked by someone. You don't have to be worry if your paypal is verified. All you have to do is prepare all documents they are asking for to prove that the account is legit. What if your account is not verified? That is the problem. But, I think you can still be able to verify as long as the name of your paypal is your real name. I hope you will solve it in the future.

My account was verified before the LAST time they limited my account. I have checked my account daily and all of the charges are ones that I have made. The one they are investigating I made just the night before. I will send anything they ask for, but I had sent everything before. I hope it is resolved really soon. Thanks for the response!

I had like 7.36 in my paypal account. within a matter of seconds I saw where someone had put in 1,100.00 in my account. the very next few seconds you saw them take it out as 1,107.36. leaving me a balance of 0.00. I did not catch this right away as I had not made any purchases on ebay. When I went in one day to see what my balance was and then see the two amounts like that I immediately called paypal. naturally they froze my account and did an investigation. they closed that account and opened a new one for me. It only took about a week. Don;t mess with emails call them and get a live person to talk to. it goes so much quicker. Lots of luck to you hon.

Forgot to add, it was a learning experience to think someone would take 7.00 from an account. so I now move my money over to my checking account immediately. If I buy something, then paypal can remove it from my checking account and pay the person. Works a lot easier and you know where your money is.

If you verified your paypal account to your bank account you will not have a limit, but i also never had a trouble with the limit. I do not even know what is the limit. You alsways can make a new account if you are close to the limit and put your money on that account. I hope for you you can get all your money back you had on that account, if there was much i would put it into your bankaccount if i was you.

It has been verified through my bank. The limitation is because of a problem I had in the past being associated with some other accounts that were limited. They said that they could not (would not?) service me again so I am no longer able to use paypal. I will be able to get my funds that are currently in the account in 6 months. Oh well...

Read all the responses, hope they clear it up soon. did they give you any more information than "under investigation", as in why they were investigating?

Not yet. When I asked for details, they sent an email telling me they would let me know within 5 business days...whatever that means. Oh well...

Are you absolutely certain this email was from PayPal? A common phishing email is to send out an email supposedly from PayPal to get your account details.

wow. i never even get that much in mine. but i have a tendency to put it over in my bank account before it ever reaches like over 50 bucks. thats what you should do put it in your bank account before this happens.

I used to do that, but since I had no problems for so long, I had decided to leave it in there so that I didn't have all my money in one place and I wouldn't have to wait for deposits to take place. If they do release the hold, I will leave it at $50 and take everything else out. If they don't, I don't know what I will do. Thanks for the response.

There must have been some reasons for paypal to limit your account. Didn't you violate anything already set out by paypal? You may have forgotten it. Just try to remember it, who knows?

Actually this is the first I have heard of paypal doing this. I wasn't aware that they had limitations. Then again I don't try to keep to much money in my paypal account I am normally transferring it to my bank once I reach a certain amount. I just have the account because like you said most of these sites and companies only pay through paypal. But that is a bit ridiculous in their part.

Hi, I've never heard something like this before. I hardly ever find someone I knew complaining about paypal. If they need to investigate then I'm sure the result will come up quickly. I hope your problem will resolve soon.

You should call them and tell reasonable problem, and then you must send your identity or bill account to open your paypal account. Scan your identity and after 2 hours, they will open your account back. It always happen, if all of paypal consumers receive a huge money from stranger, just tell the reason and prove it.

I know they did it last time. I just hope the open it again. They have my identity from the last time they limited my account. I will send them what they want when they tell me what it is. Thanks for the response!
