Besides money, persons with ailment if they can still manage it, refuse to see a doctor or go to the hospital. Most are brought to the hospital already on their dying hours. Many of them reach hospital when their ailments are no longer curable. What could be their reasons besides lack of money or poverty?

I think others don't want to visit the hospital for the simple reasons that they are just not used to it and would rather do self medications than bother themselves in commuting or making arrangements for a checkup. It may also because being in the hospital contributes more to dampening a persons liveliness or because may be others associate a hospital to more health risks than to having a cure. I also am not a fan of being in the hospital because there is just a heavy feeling whenever I am in such a place. As much as possible, I keep myself healthy so that I will not have any reason to visit such a place in the future.

I do appreciate your comment. Who do you think is your family doctor? How often do you visit him?

Almost all users prefer self-medication or not seeing a doctor regularly. What do you think of the medical profession if this will be our attitude? How can the make a living of their profession? Comment?

I personally don't have a doctor that I frequent to or make appointments with and I want to keep it that way :) My wife used to visit the dermatologists before because of a skin condition. Thankfully, that condition no longer appears and I think that is due to the herbal juice that she taking.

I think that a lot of people would prefer just living their lives without knowing if something is wrong with them. I think that you can see their point. If something isn't wrong with you, you've just wasted a lot of time and money to go to the doctor's for absolutely nothing. But if something is wrong with you, then you have the stress of dealing with that. Of course, there are times where doctors might not be equipped to deal with what is wrong, so we keep bouncing around from doctor to doctor. In the end, by the time we find anything out, it might have been too late to begin with, so people are going to really not going to bother. Money is a big motivator but some people feel they are better off not knowing and they don't want to know. And some really don't care in certain situations. That's just the fact of the matter.

I know many people are terrified of hospitals, I guess I am one of those, I know I don't have some tests that we should have and they are free here in Australia but I am one that prefer not to have them...Its just the way some people are.

What could be one reason why people have a distaste for hospital?

A lot of people just do not like or do not trust the doctor. They think that the doctor will just give them a lot of medicine, some of which they don't need and can cause more harm. Some try natural alternatives and it works for awhile or it works and then relapses and then they arent' sure what to do.

Upon review of my archive issues, I discovered that I failed to give you a response. Thanks for the response. You've posted a sound reasoning on why lots of people have distrust for doctors.

-They are stubborn! People are so stubborn. My dad won't go to the doctors unless he absolutely HAS to. I mean HAS to! I guess in some respects I'm the same way. It's like a man (or a stubborn woman) who would rather get lost for hours and hours on end than stop and ask someone for directions. It's like admitting defeat almost. -And I second what the other people were saying - probably a fear of doctors in general. Or a distrust. I know I used to be incredibly afraid of getting any kind of shot OR getting my blood drawn. It still freaks me out a little bit, but I manage.

Can you suggest one remedy on how to make people admire, appreciate and love doctors and hospitals?

In my ease, I simply won't go because it is inconvenient. People today have very busy lives, including the doctor which makes the consultation. We all want to maximize our time and do everything just to avoid being sick or sent into hospitals. In many people, they consider time as the same as money. The longer you stay out of work for any reason is a reason to wasting money. Another thing that makes me not go to the hospital is that we have a family friend that is a doctor. If there is a problem in our family, we simply contact her and she makes time. She makes diagnosis for free but we also take it upon ourselves to research and ask for a second opinion if we aren't satisfied. I guess that is a good method rather than showing up in a hospital as a walk-in and wait for a turn to see the doctor.

Congrats jeanneyvonne for having a doctor-friend. Would it be good to always avail of the services of a doctor free? How about his welfare and that of his family?

Most sickness are curable without going to the trouble of seeing a doctor, so most people would choose to cure them themselves. Unless the sickness didn't lessen after a couple of days, then they would go to the doctor. They just don't like the trouble of traveling to the doctor and be treated for simple diseases.

I abide with the reasons you've posted, besides seeing doctors or hospital too often entails money, isn't it?
