Have you ever used peanut butter to do these things before?

Besides making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich there is a lot of things that creamy jar can do to help you around the house and save you money. Here are some ways to use peanut butter: 1) Shaving: When you run out of shaving cream use peanut butter. Great for faces and legs alike. Your shave will be closer, you have a pleasant smell to inhale and peanut butter works as a natural moisturizer too. Then just wash off with soap and water. 2) Bait: It is a proven fact that mice don't like cheese. They prefer peanut butter. Apply a small amount to a trap and you will catch them a lot faster and feel safe to go to sleep at night if one sneaks into the house. 3) Pets: It is so much easier to conceal a pill in peanut butter when dosing a cat or dog. They love the taste and it makes it harder for them to spit it out. So the pill and the peanut butter go down with ease. 4) Grease relief: Instead of buying lubricant use peanut butter to loosen blades on machine parts. Just a little dab will do it. 5) Leather: Peanut butter is an excellent cleaner for leather furniture. A small amount on a soiled area rubbed with a soft clean cloth in a circular motion will clean the spot. You can always apply leather cleaner to rid the piece of the peanut butter smell the next time you shop. But this trick will work in a pinch. These ideas may sound nuts but the oils in the peanuts can do wonders around the house and it is less expensive than purchasing a variety of products. (Remember if anyone in the house is allergic to nuts try an alternative method.) What other ways can you think of to use peanut butter in your home?

Peanut butter has tripled in cost around here. For a while there we thought we might not be able to afford it anymore. We eat our peanut butter here and other nut butters as well. In the morning nut butters on toast make a quick and filling breakfast that is ready to go. We eat nuts or nut butter with apples and celery for a ballanced snack. We also make sauces out of them for toppings on cake or icecream. Just mix peanut butter, milk and a sweetner in a pot to make a sauce. Its a great way to get protein instead of costly meats.

Thanks for sharing some great and healthy ways to use peanut butter for snacking and a different breakfast treat for many. The cost of peanut butter has gone up everywhere - it is a shame too - it is one of those food items that small children enjoy so much. For them not to have a PB&J sandwich would be terrible - how do you tell them it costs too much - hope that the prices drop so more people can enjoy the greatness of this simple food more often.

Peanut butter can be used as a glue for paper as a short term measure. But bear in mind that the oil of peanut butter will eventually spoil whatever paper you used it to glue. When you are in a hurry, it helps. The best way to use peanut butter is still to eat it and the best place to use it is still in between two pieces of sandwiches.

In my country there are usually 2 varieties of peanut butters: "Creamy" - where the peanuts are blended so fine and smooth it is just, creamy! "Crunchy" - in which broken, roasted peanut kernels are mixed. When we eat it we feel like eating peanuts with jam. I like crunchy peanut butter because of the peanuts but my family prefers the creamy type. So we have 2 varieties at home.

This one is new to me. Glue! That is interesting. I can see how it could work being sticky and all. You are right the oils you would have to watch out for since they will stain and leave a mark. Plain peanut butter sandwiches is the best way to utilize this great power food. With jelly, fruit and so delicious on toasted bread too. Enjoy and thanks for another tip!

Many of these we have done before, or I have heard of. Not sure I could get my husband or I to consider Shaving with peanut butter though. Not sure he would want to smell Peanut Butter all day like that? And our dog would probably try licking his face all day just because of the smell.

I know it works but you do have to wash afterwards. You are right, don't think I could get my husband to shave with it either. But I can picture your dog wanting to kiss his face and keep him from getting to work on time. Too cute! Thanks for stopping in and letting us know that you have used these tips too!

I know many people eat it with bananas but I have yet to try it out. For some reason I keep being reminded of Elvis and his peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches and I think it just makes me worry. But just the banana and peanut butter sounds great since we love both food sources. Thanks for a new treat to try!

I always use peanut butter on my mice traps and I have heard of using it to disquise pills for the dogs, but never heard of using it for shaving cream. However, my shaving cream only costs $1.00 and peanut butter is quite expensive where I live, so I think I will stick to the shaving cream.

You can also use it to get gum out of your hair. It works well when getting gum out. Thank you for sharing the other household ways to use peanut butter. I love to eat peanut butter so I always have it on hand.
