If you prefer to sleep immediately after eating you should wait 1-2 hours, because the risk of stroke will increase if the lag time between eating to sleep too close. Allow time for the stomach about 60-70 minutes to digest food is claimed to reduce the risk of stroke by 66 percent and will decrease when the time is getting longer. Any increase in the gap for 20 minutes, the risk is reduced by 10 percent. Keep mylotting and be healthy.!

Where is the prove for that? Food is seldom digested in 1-2 hours. Only fruit can, the rest will take up to 8 hours or even more. It's also normal you feel sleepy after you ate. Since digesting costs a lot of energy. So if your body is digesting your meal, the rest of your body is on a very low energy level. And that is exactly the reason why it's not smart to get active after you dinner or to sport! Sleeping is no problem at all.

Even the alternative doctor who treated my father for his cancer, said that we could sleep even if we have just eaten at least 30 minutes. Provided that we should drink at least one glassful of water before lying down to sleep. He said it prevents one from getting nightmares. As to the explanation, i didn't ask why anymore.

Cristina-Maria Kastorini, MSc, a nutritionist from the University of Ioannina in Greece said that if someone went to bed immediately after dinner, then that person is prone to reflux of stomach acid. This condition causes stomach acids up into the esophagus and lead to discomfort. At bedtime, reflux can lead to airway constriction and thus prone to sleep apnea stop breathing during sleep. Although not directly trigger a stroke, numerous studies have shown that sleep apnea is associated with the risk of damage to blood vessels in the brain that trigger a stroke.!!!!!!!b!!b!!b!!b

I know that deep sleepiness after eating is a sign of having health problems with the liver. I guess more precisely the cause is the gall bladder. I have that sometimes. On the other hand I also read that it's a bad habit to take a nap after eating. It's much more better to go for a walk. I guess it helps to digest food. Also I read it's good to eat the last meal at least three-four hours before going to bed. But I didn't know about the strokes. Interesting to find out why!

Quite true ..retiring to bed immediately after a heavy load of food intake is detrimental to health in general. There s an old saying about health maintenance in our language. It goes thus: Walk several yards after supper.

i agree with you as you said about stork but there are lots other medical condition which directly releated with this kind of position like increase wait , acidity and many other ... If i talk about incrase wait condition , if you go to sleep immdietly after your dinner then its defiantly incrase your wait because during your sleep it will incrase your fat store so must say before'going to sleep you have to wait atleast one to two hours , if possiable then do exercise before going to sleep and at least walk some distance because walking is best exercise.... Keeep lootting...

Yes you are right sleep immediately after eating is dangerous because digestion is not good. We should wait at least half an hour not 1 to 2 hours is necessary. If we can walk for some time after eating then it is good for health.

Thanks for kind reminding. Yes, it is dangerous to sleep immediately after eating. In fact, it is better to have a walk after supper, and i have heard some reports that say the longer the time between the supper and your sleep, the better you will get. Of course, we can't eat supper too early and go to bed too late, because we will get hungry and have some thing to eat if we do so, but we should try to have regular lifestyle to keep healthy.

Why do you say that the stomach cannot digest food if we are asleep? In my country it is costumary to have a nap after lunch (the biggest meal of the day on weekends). After eating a bigger portion of our blood does to our stomach to help us digest meals. We think it is best to give our brains a rest.

Hi! Its is really not healthy to immediately sleep with a full stomach. Our body needs rest in the proper time and so is our digestive system. Be healthy and search more on facts about health to gain knowledge.:)

Ya, sleep after eating really no good to health. But normally, after eating, we will feel sleepy, this is very natural. But i dont know that, sleeping after meal will cause stroke. I have a friend told me before, sleep after meal is because high in cholesterol. Before that, i thought is the oxigen cannot reach the brain, thats why will feel sleepy. But, it is really no good for digestion this one i can make sure. Happy mylotting.

ive heard from many people ,that whenb we sleep after we eat, is really dangerous. It is dangerous in the sense that there might be a tendency that the foods we eat were not yet digest and theres a big possibility to ruin our body while sleeping.theres a tendency for having a stroke and it is very dangerous..

Yah. it is really dangerous. what i am worrying about is not more of stroke but aspiration. the moment we sleep our muscles of the stomach relaxes causing regurgitation of the food we eat, the food could go up and blocking our airway passage.
