Yesterday I had been to a marriage in Nanganallur. I saw a girl aged 6 years operating quite comfortably a cell phone -- she was taking photo and sending SMS through that cell phone. Present day children are more intelligent and they know many things than elders like us. Their IQ is good. They have advanced gadgets at the time of their birth and that helps them improve their skill. Have you noticed similar advanced way in which young children operate cell phones/computers. pl post your assessment of this trend. I think in developed countries like USA, Britain the situation will be much more advanced than this.

i think 6 is a little young to have a cell phone. it just seems that kids just aren't kids anymore, they are mini adults.

cher --Yes. you bring one more classification -- children - mini adults --adolescents --adults. good. Children master the art of using cell phones nice way. A kid who comes for tuition to my wife --as soon as she comes she takes all the cell phones, remotes available in the house and knows how to operate them. We try to keep those things hidden from her eye sight.

Yes of-course but, the main think that usually people will ignore is the amount of radiation that each mobile phone is emitting. And also how its going to effect the small human brains and their bodies. let us see in the near future

mahanthi: welcome to mylot. Hope you are also from India? I posted this only to bring the ill effects of children being exposed to cell phone at so early age. You are right. It is said that if one talks for longer time every day it will affect his brain and may cause brain tumour/cancer.

i am sure, most of the kinder or grade 1 kids using cellphones, their intention is purely GAMES. I am referring to the touched screen versions of smart phones.

People who are in eighties -- do not know operating cell phones and computers. People like who are in sixties we know minimum usage of cell phones and computers. People in 40 they operate well. People in twenties are masters along with the kids nowadays. India is progressing well.

adhyz -- we think alike. one member has classified a group of children into mini-adults. they know operation of these modern gadgets and can teach their grand parents and parents. Times have changed and hence at 10 they have black berry to operate. As long as they use it in a limited way, it is fine.

Hi ravisivan: I don't feel surprised actually. My little cousin already knows some computer things and now that they are more in touch with technology their skills are being developed quicker which is really good as long as we conciliate this with other activities that are good for them, for example, practising a sport. Yes sir, my friend's 3 years old daughter is using her mom's mobile phone to play games. And whenever she comes in front of the computer to use it, my friend could not actually properly chat and use it because her daughter is operating it. And she knows how to go to facebook, youtube and games sites. For a 3-year old we find it amazing that she knows how to use the mouse too and navigate the site. She asked for help only when she don't know what to do.

no surprise friend. of course fourth generation is more intelligent than third one. in coming days even you can't imagine future generation will be worn full of hands with mobile and other advanced gadgets that time.

Well, my daughter is nine years old and my son is five years old and they have both figured out how to do things with my phone that I've never been able to figure out on my own. With that said, I do think that the children of today are a lot more intelligent than children were in the past. However, I think that these advances in knowledge have also resulted in some loss of innocence that children in years past had.

This is an important point. children are losing innocence. they master the cell phones and computers.

Well my granddaughter Subhee is just 3, but she can operate laptop so well using her fingers, though i need a mouse, the present day kids are certainly advanced.. All they need is better guidance.. Best of luck. Happy posting, cheers. Kalyani

Great -- your grand daughter of 3 year old can operate laptops. excellent. Now at 12 children have to be given cell phones so that they can contact the parents in times of need. Yes they have to be guided properly.

I don't believe they are more intelligent. They just have technical options available to them that we didn't as children. I'm sure if this technology was the same during our childhood, we would be just as savvy. Best Wishes!

To some extent what you say is right. if we had the opportunity to sue these gadgets when we were young we could have mastered it. I will still say that the present day kid are more intelligent and can do things better than elderly people simply because they want to achieve.

Perhaps you also get qualified to be rated among the young people. You state that you people know how to operate and make use of it properly.

For sure the coming young generation kids are way sharper and smarter than how much we are and they know more about the gadgets and technology well. But my main concern is, where does these kids stand when it comes to house, family and relationships. I am recently noticing a lot of kids, who never respect any elders or even their own friends. The main reason is, they have this sort of the attitude problem. Just because they know about the technology, they fail to respect the elders who do not know the same. This is not where we should be travelling. In a way, it is a great thing to see kids being so sharp, at the same time it is indeed disheartening to see no values and respect in the society.

Yes. children should be told that children should not use cell phone when they travel. Children should learn to respect the elders and learn to use it tactfully.
