software / hardware / wahtever you call it to budget

Hello there mylot techies!
I was wondering if anyone knew of any good hardware / software that is free and VIRUS free that one can use to help budget / keep track of money flow? If anyone knows of anything please let me know, and I am sure many more would also like to know.

Since 2005 I've been using a simple MS Excel file to track my budget. It's easy to list all my expenses in columns, and have my dates as rows. At the far right column would be the sums of all the positive(paychecks) and negatives(bills). Going by the row I could figure out when in the future money would run out, or if I have extra money for a few days.
I think there is also free version of Excel online. You could use that too.
