Little German Dog with a HUGE Heart!!!

Baby is an 8 year old French Bulldog that lives at the Lehnitz Animal Sanctuary outside of Berlin, Germany. Baby apparently NEEDS to be a loving mother!!! During Baby's time at the sanctuary, Baby has raised cats, raccoons, & numerous other animals. Her latest litter is 6 Wild Boar Piglets whose mother was killed by hunters. Someone found the piglets & brought them to the sanctuary cold & shivering. Baby immediately ran over & began to mother the little guys. Each of these piglets were almost as big as Baby & yet she took them on even though she had no milk for them. Now Baby takes care of the piglets & workers at the sanctuary bottle feeds her new babies. If you go to the link, you'll see pics of Baby & her new litter. You can tell she's proud of her new babies.
I know here in Georgia that we've had dogs adopt kittens. cats adopt puppies, & an occasional cow will adopt a piglet; but I don't remember anything as strange as a dog adopting piglets. And I don't remember any animal making it their life's ambition to mother other species with the love that Baby has shown!!! What stories do you have that can be added to this discussion???

Beautiful picture and beautiful spirit of that dog. I don't have anything to add to this but wanted to let you know that it really touches me.

I found it to be a wonderfully touching story!!! I loved watching her running around trying to take care of the piglets. It won't be long before they will be bigger than she is & I wonder how she will deal with them??? I hope to find an update to this story in the not too distant future!!! Just glad I could make you smile!!!

Wouldn't this world bet MUCH BETTER if more responded the way she did??? The whole story was PRECIOUS!!!
I found it even more interesting that it came from the NY Daily News...the most unfriendly city in the country!!!

That is the sweetest thing! I suppose that babies are babies to some mothers.
We adopted a rescue dog..she was a mini schnauzer. She had been bred under horrible conditions and when we got her, her paws had never even touched grass. We had tea cup chihuahuas and when they mated, Berta, the rescue dog, stole them for her own the moment she got the chance.

this is such a feelgood story. not enough of these in the news nowadays.
all i can really add to this is that the world would be a whole lot better place to live in if we all lived our lifes as well as this dog.
how sad it takes a 'dumb' dog to show us the way.
