It's hard to find work at an advanced age.

This morning, I was talking to a female candidate for the position of "hand-drawn design staff." She was 52 years old. This is the first time I met an older age such candidates like her. She was quite confused when talking about her work and her ability. She interpreted quite lengthy. It looks like she's afraid that I will not understand or misunderstand about what she said. For me, the reception her for work is truly a challenge. I believe in the possibility of her. But with her character and her way of thinking, I'm afraid that she could hardly work long term...

Wow, you think 52 is an advanced age. Wait until you are 52, you will think you are still young. I am 75, that is an advanced age.

It is ashamed to find some older people in this condition. I have a couple of acquaintances who cannot talk without doing the same things you are describing. They had been diagnosed with bi polar at a late age. You cannot have a conversation with them. They will not let you complete a sentence. They will not let you offer a comment when they start a sentence. It is impossible to have a conversation with them.

I'm not even reach 40 yet but I gave a thought about what will I do in my 50 or 60. I surely need people to trust me that I'm capable to work as good now, and yes it will take a strong effort to convince people about that. Maybe you should give the lady a try if you think she can do it.

I guess she is just scared or insecure. Scares that you might think she is too old for the job, and she might not perform well. Or she might be insecure with the other applicants who are younger than she is and more capable physically.

Maybe you're right. But the issue is I know her abilities, I believe that she can work well. But with her age, there will have many problems which will occur in the future if she works for us: heath, family, colleagues etc...

We should have a good preparation for our old age, right? :)

I can just imagin what this person felt like. Anxious, afraid that she is too old for the job and try very hard to bring her point of view to the surface. I myself am senior and I find it difficult to get a job. The minute my age is mentioned I get pushed aside.

Maybe you're right. But it's hard for us, too. We have many issues to consider when hiring an employee. Right?

Well I would be a bit nervous at a job interview. Maybe even you would also be nervous if you had to go for a job again? One big advantage with her would be that she is not going to be taking long maternity leaves! haha Ignore the nervousness - can she do the job? Yes/No That is the main question. Is it important that she is a team player and will bond with your 20/30 yo staff? Well maybe there might be a problem there.

We face that here as well. If you are too young, everyone assumes you don't know what you are doing, and if you are "too old" everyone assumes you don't know what you are doing! It is very strange that people with such experience are considered "obsolete" because if you have kept up with new developments in your field you are likely to be better than a younger candidate because you have more knowledge and experience. However, if you cling to old ways of doing things, you will be a liability.

I'm 30 years old but still I look for a job and I need some skills like being able to convince people to buy things (being persuative). That skill is very important to get accepted to many jobs that you give service like being a sells man , working at the client service at the internet provider company... I actually need some more skills or experience to do other jobs and the only jobs I did so far were being a private teacher and a tutor for small kids at school. Maybe you can help the woman get better on the job if you teach her some specific techniques about the job and she can get the job done better ? I bet looking for jobs at an old age is not so happy thing to do , maybe she think she won't get accepted because she is old ? Maybe if you accept her , she will gain her confidence back ? I hope she got some skills to learn the job fast and be productive. If not , she will have to find maybe another job or somthing to do so she can earn money.

Maybe she'll find a good job in other company. Because we can't meet her inquires about salary and working environment. She said that she wishes her workplace will be very quiet, all persons are very kindly, her colleagues will be gentle and friendly with her etc...As a manager, I can't control all that things. What will be occurred if one of my staff can be the same her wishes? ....Oh, I must think carefully if I want to receive her....

I believe that in any job, age doesn't matter as long as she has met the qualifications.. In this age, having employees coming from different generations is possible.. Just be open about it.. ΓΌ

Really? I'm sorry that I don't think so. Because I realize too many problems via the way talking of her.
