Do you Pray for Crazy Things????

What we pray for shows what is really important to us. Do you pray for crazy things?? How about? God, let my favorite sports team win the game. How about? God let me pass the test in school. There is always.God, let me get that promotion, let me win the lottery, let me win the sweepstakes or at gambling. How about? God, let them fall in love with me. There is my favorite: God, let me convert bird123 to my religion. OK!OK! I couldn't help throwing that one in. That is crazy. God does get some strange requests. I guess none of them are really crazy or silly. They are about what we care the most about in life.

I have prayed for you, not that you'd convert to the same faith that I follow; but that your heart and mind would be open to the truth. I hate to think that you're a lost cause, but I'm afraid your heart and soul belong to the evil one. I have come to the conclusion that it's not truth that matters to you, it's what you already believe that's important, and nothing, not even evidence that would convince the most harden skeptic, will budge you.

bird: If you think I'm going to believe that you have even an iota of interest in the truth, you're fooling yourself. I've given you the truth and you dismiss it without a thought of doing a thorough investigation. The only things you look for in Scripture are things that might support your point of view, which they really don't because you take them out of context. You have asked me if I will question my evidence. Yes, I will and I have. I'll ask you a similar question. When are you going to question your beliefs? When are you going to realize that just the fact that you can never answer anyone's questions regarding your beliefs is a pretty good indication that what you believe is nothing more than your imagination, and it makes many of us doubt that you're telling us the truth?. We believe you cannot tell us how you know you met God because it never happened. You cannot back up any of your claims because there is no evidence. There are those of us who will not believe you because we already have a relationship with God that we can backup with the evidence of the Bible and the evidence of the Bible can be backed up by its accuracy. When we ask you for your evidence you say something like, I'm not going to hand it up to you on a platter. Always evasive responses.

That's a pretty general statement. I am open to the truth when it is truth. When I get stories that don't add up, I will question them. Me, a lost cause?? I didn't realize I was a cause. You say my heart and soul belong to the evil one. My heart and soul belong to me. Surely you can't be calling me evil. Your satan does not exist. If your satan would exist, I would give him a run for his money. I would shine some light into his eyes. Finally, I am learning and growing everyday. That does require change on my part. I do have experience I guess few have had. Start your journey to discovery and be where I am at today. I can not change the truth to fit other's holy books. I am always open for what people say. If you have evidence, feel free to tell me. I will question it. Will you?? I find it funny that even though your holy book was written by mankind that you can't find a single thing you don't agree with. Think about that. Do you really question or do you accept?? If you accept, it is you who cares nothing for the real truth.

Who values beliefs here??? I want you to discover the truth rather than rely on anyone's beliefs whether from holy books or myself. All I hear from you are excuses. Don't want to discover the truth?? Great! That is your choice. I could never be satisfied accepting beliefs as truth. I can see you have no problem with that. Now you want me to convince you so you can accept what I say as beliefs instead of discovering it for yourself. Give me a break! I have learn through past experience there are no short cuts. You would just end up more confused than you are now, if that's possible. I know you have been taught to value beliefs from childhood. I would be doing you no favors by nurturing this. Religion loves beliefs. That's why you are so happy with them. You can make anything you want be the truth with beliefs, however what do you really have???Stories. Until you learn and grow to the point where discovery of the real truth is important to you, you will remain in the comfort of your beliefs. You will never really know the truth for yourself. Go through your religion. They have told you it is the only way.You have blindly accepted that. That's sad.One day you will discover that truth is important to know. Reality is about truth. No matter how one fights. We will live in it. In time, it will show up.

How would you have us pray for you, if we believe your path is leading you away from God and into eternal damnation? I suppose we can do as Jesus suggested in Matthew 7:6 and stop responding to your discussions.

Perhaps, you should listen to your sister. Perhaps, she sees more than you. Will your Ego allow that?? Will she be brave enough to speak?

Perhaps, you should look for others ways rather than striking it rich. If travelling around the world is where you are meant to be, there will be a WAY. Look for that open door. Perhaps even a travel job is possible. Of course, it is always nice to dream about being rich, however the reality is that it might just ruin our lives.

Yes I pray for crazy things. In fact from my childhood my parents have taught me to pray to god, expressing any wish in my mind and I am continuing with that trend since then.I pray for all kinds of things, anything that comes to my mind.Sometimes it seems that God is my only confidant and I can tell him anything, which I cannot tell others. In moments of loneliness God is my only friend.

Communication is key in any relationship. Your actions will just bring you closer to God. Also, if you get lonely, there are many people who are happy to help. Sometimes one must only be brave enough to ask. The love and kindness you give the world will return when you need it the very most.

Hi bird: I don't ask for material things in my prays. On the opposite, I ask God to give me wisdom to chose the right things and to be a better person because I am conscious that what I think it's better for me maybe it's not. We are just humans and we make mistakes, sometimes we don't want what's best for us. I think this is one of the mos important prays in Christianism and it summarize what we should ask God Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. ALVARO

You are praying someone else's written prayer. It says a lot, however I feel it's important to give that personal touch with our own words. On the other hand, I will never be one to tell others how to pray. People should be free to pray or not pray any way they want.

I have done several request like those ones but I do not take them like a prayer rather than just a simple request or sometimes I even to do not about it when Iam saying it.

Perhaps some of those silly requests do come natural. After all, we know God can deliver. The easiest of all solutions is to have it done for us.
@Mashnn (4501)

It is natural, infact I do not even thing about it after saying those things.

well i take God way more seriously than what you are talking about however, i work at a Christian organization and we have prayed over a photocopier before. Crazy? I think not! God does show his love for His people that believe in him.

Praying over a photocopier??? That's good. Can I tell the people at my office that this works??? Those copiers can be a real pain at times. God shows His love for all people. God loves Unconditionally. There is no requirement of belief with God. Religion makes that demand not God.

I think we have all prayed for things that would be considered crazy. We all have things we feel we need and / or want. Luckily, God filters them through and gives us only what he knows we need, and sometimes that's a life lesson. I do pray for things that are crazy, but I've tried to be less crazy with my prayers. I know God will do what he knows is best for me and that is all that I can wish for. He brings us to it, he'll steer us through it.

Hello, bird123. So have you decided to come over to my beliefs? Just kidding. Yes I have had a crazy prayer like what you described. I was asking GOD to let the Boise State Broncos lose one game so people would stop and see that they were not that great. They proved me wrong every time. So then I became a fan. Silly, I know. Have a great day bird123... :)

So you are the one who has been praying to convert me. Kind of working behind the scenes on me. OK. OK. One can try. With so many praying for their team to win, it's interesting to discover someone praying for their team to lose. I guess someone somewhere is praying for anything one can imagine. The diversity in this world is a great gift few realize. It will always keep things interesting.

praying should start with a thank you for what you have and to be abetter person praying is not for objects why pray for a new car will die with out it no. praying for health praying you can pay your bills or someone will stop getting in trouble those are things we are to pray for and about

Yes, a thank you would be a nice start to a prayer, however that is often forgotten by the need for the next thing on our list of needs. You are right. THe important things should come first, however how can most resist praying about what is currently on our minds regardless of how silly that might be. I guess it's human nature.

A lot of people will pray for things which might sound a little odd, but the very fact that they're praying for them at all shows that those things are important to them at the time and this means that they are perfectly valid things to pray for. I don't really understand the people who say that they don't believe in God, but will then go on to pray for things anyway, that's a little bit weird, however if you feel as though it makes things easier for you to pray for the things that you would like to happen in your life then this is entirely up to you and you should feel as though you are able to do so.

You do have a point. Getting one crazy thing granted might just open the door for all kinds of crazy prayers.
