If you want to make a difference, what do you think is the best way to lessen the numbers of children loitering on streets asking for money in the Philippines?

Street children are all over the city begging for alms to allow them to buy rugby or solvents. It is a pity that the youth are wasted in this process where they gain a livelihood from begging. The authorities have turned a blind eye on these children and I wonder what is the reason. The kids would later on grow up to be pickpockets or holduppers if the government will not take the proper steps. There are so many street children because their parents cannot afford to provide them with the basic necessities. They don't get the necessary education to allow them a decent job in the future. The RH Bill got lost amidst the debate between the government and the church. It was said that the youth is the hope of the fatherland, but will these youth be our hope or our despair?

Definitely in despair if we dont do something about it. RH bill got lost with the church and government and it was not in the filing cabinet because of the Corona impeachment case. it is sad.

The RH Bill and the other pending bills in Congress are the very reason why I am disappointed with the present administration. In seeking for a solution, we have to look closely at the root cause and we know that it is due to poverty and deprivation as a result of over population and irresponsible parenthood. Much as we would like to help in this situation, we are powerless due to the economic difficulties that we ourselves are also experiencing.

This problem has already gone big and I think the only way to really resolve this problem is to create a system that will help these children as well as their parents get the rehabilitation that they need. These families that are out in the street should be re-educated in order to fit society and they should be given ample support until they can get back on their feet on their own. Some of these children are handled by syndicates so the system that I'm thinking of should also eradicate these syndicates in order to free these children. It's a complicated process and it involves a lot of work and money but I believe it can be done.

We all have ideas on how to eradicate this awful situation in the Philippines, but who will start or initiate this big change. I am frustrated with our government. Ordinary citizen can help but i dont think we have enough money and resources to do that. Why cant they stop being corrupt?

Welcome to Mylot Dazzledlady! In my humble opinion, a good way to lessen the count of street children is to mandate them all to go to schools synchronized with mandated re-schooling of their parents to learn other crafts to enhance their productivity. When parents have money, they wouldnt think twice about putting their kids to school.

You've got a nice idea there.I do agree that education can help these people improve their way of life but the problem now is the fund :(

I will put them in a house..so they won't loiter in the streets.. and i will feed them, clothe them, and put them in school- just like in Bantay Bata. If only we have enough funds for all the street children.

Donate and educate. It can be done alone and sporadic, but it would be best if it is being done by well-structured organization. And also it need to be done in long term, not only in short time. Easier said, hard to be done. But little things will also helps. That's why we just need to give our best help and never give up.

So true, people have great ideas but indeed it is so much easier discussing it, planning but never in the implementation phase. And the hardest part is on the maintenance, we seem to have lost the energy after it has been initiated.
