Which Do You Think is Better: HULU Plus or Netflix?

I recently downgraded my cable service to basic cable and to make up for the missed channels I bought a Roku 2. I am looking for service to subscribe to, especially if they are free. I would like to see TV shows including both new and classic TV as well as movies. So far, I have just started a free subscription to Netflix and I have found some of the shows that I want to see, although they may not be showing recent episodes. I am also considering trying HULU plus. I'd really like to find a service that shows recent episodes of American TV shows but also I'd like to find one that shows BBC shows, such as Dr. Who, Torchwood, or even Law and Order: UK. I miss BBC America and I'm afraid I may miss shows like Burn Notice and the Walking Dead. So has anyone else had much experience streaming Internet TV to a TV especially through a Roku box and what can you tell me.

I just started HULU Plus and I'm seeing some of what you've said. Although between the two, there are some differences in shows that are carried and neither runs some of the old classics I wouldn't mind seeing.

I have Netflix but not Hulu, and I also have a Roku I just got for Christmas. I was wondering the same thing, if it was better than Netflix. You can actually go on their sites and browse to see what TV shows they offer and if those are any of the ones you like. I'm looking at the Netflix site and they have some shows I like or are popular (all American I believe), including: Burn Notice, South Park, How I Met Your Mother, Buffy, Angel, The Office, 30 Rock, Parks & Recreation, Scrubs, Psych, SNL, Glee, Breaking Bad, Law & Order SVU, Sons of Anarchy, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Heroes, Dr. Who, Prison Break, Lie to Me. I don't know how many shows Hulu has or if it has anything you like, but I think you can go on the website and browse to see what shows they have. Good luck to you! & Happy MyLotting!

Netflix has many of the shows you've listed, and many of them are ones I'd like to keep up with, but I don't think they have the current season for many of these. For example for Dr. Who, they have a lot ot he old episodes including ones made before the show when off the air. HULU Plus, as I found out, has shows with the current Dr. Who and is more up to date. The also have recent episodes of many of the broadcast network shows.

Hi burrito I don't have a Roku Box but I have a Wii game console and my son has an Xbox 360 so I have Netflix. I find interesting things to watch all the time. No they will not have current seasons on but I watched the Tudors on Showtime and sometimes I forgot it was on and now I am rewatching it on Netflix. There are over 10,000 movies and episodes at your fingertips and I only pay 7.99 a month for it. i don't get the extra DVDS there is enough on there to find something to watch. We have expanded Basic as there are some political talk shows hubby likes and a few channels he cant seem to live without. I watch netflix on tv, my laptop, and now that I have a smartphone I downloaded the app and can view anything on it I want when traveling. So for me Netflix provides a lot of entertainment for such a small price every month. Hope you find the best choice for you. Have a wonderful day!

Just read a review on netflix adn huluplus. It is higher than netflix, and basically only offers mostly tv shows. If I miss a show I just go to one of the stations a few hours later or day later and watch it for free on like ABC.com I am more of a movie buff than series with some exceptions. So thats why Netflix is probably better for me. if you are viewing Netflix for free put a search in for Dive. Guarantee you its worth watching and you will learn a lot! Good luck in deciding what you will pick. I am gonna stick with Netflix but have to admit you did peek my interest on Huluplus. I don't want the interference of commercials when you are paying for something. I don't get commercials with Netflix.
