Mylot earnings

March 7, 2012 10:35am CST
Guys I am new at Mylot and I want to know how can I earn. Till now I have participated in a few discussions and I received only $0.01 per post. Is it all I can get for a post or am I missing something? And please tell me if there are any other ways of earning quickly(though small amounts) here on mylot and other similar websites.

It's early days yet. MyLot's accounting system runs from midnight to midnight MyLot time (which may be different from your time) ... see the bottom of every page. What you earned one day is usually posted the next day between 9am and 11am (again, according to MyLot time, not yours). As far as I can see, you only made one post which will have shown up in your earnings so far. What you earn is not shown on a 'per post' basis. It depends on the quality of your participation as a whole calculated over the 24 hour period. MyLot don't tell us how they calculate 'quality' but it is certainly far more complex than a 'word count' or anything like that. We aren't allowed to discuss it, in any case. (See the Guidelines). In general, the less you think about earnings and the more that you concentrate on providing the most descriptive, most valuable and relevant responses and comments that you can, the better you will earn.

Thank you owlwings, this is very valuable advice. I have been wondering the same but as you rightly say it is early days. And I am starting to really enjoy all the different discussion around the myLot world.

@ surekharathi: If you didn't want to know about time, you can simply ignore that information (or, on the other hand, you might learn something, perhaps?). My response wasn't addressed to any question of yours, so it is simply impudent to say that you didn't want to know that! @ tweety_missa: The most important thing here is to enjoy discussing things (and to find topics which you know something about, so that you have something to say. I often come across topics which I know little or nothing about, but which interest me, and that sends me off on a search for more information (using the MyLot search facility, which rewards me, every now and then, with 20 cents or so). Then I try to write a useful and informational response, perhaps asking for more information. That's what discussion is all about, of course. Sometimes a topic is of enough interest that I find I can expand my response into an article which I can publish (for profit) elsewhere. There is more than one way to cook a goose ... and the leftovers can be made into a substantial pie! I long ago forgot to look at or wonder how much I earn here. So long as I can write a reasonable amount on a subject (and be sure of getting some positive ratings), I know that each post will earn me considerably more than one cent!
