Just recently, we have heard of the new term "noynoying" which in short means laziness. Is this word really apt to describe the leader of the country? He still has 4 more years to finish his term of office but it seems, the people are already showing their dissatisfaction on the kind of leadership. In my opinion,it is not enough to run after crooks and corrupt officials. Something must be done to lift the country's economy considering that fuel prices is on the rise.

Whoever associated that term to laziness seems very judgmental. How can they say that about our President? He may not appear to be simultaneuosly on hand on many matters, but in my opinion he is doing the best he can , to be. It's just that, he is not used into announcing the things he is doing for this country. And going after the crooks is not easy. I really hope those crooks will go to jail and will serve as a warning to all government officials .

I still give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe another year or so, we will see if our votes were not really wasted.

I hope he works on his pacing. I hope this oil price crisis won't develop into a nightmare. I understand the point of view of the direct consumers (drivers) but I don't think my budget will cope for a fare hike form teh public transport group.

I am really worried about the rising costs of fuel not only in relation to the fare hike but the price of LPG. It might reach a thousand if the fuel prices remain uncontrolled. This must be one of the reasons why the people are disgruntled by the current administration.

I am really not a Pnoy supporter, but being the President now, I have to give my support to him as a citizen of the Philippines. Instead of trying to bash him out, people should try to help him out instead. I do think that he is pretty slow in making decisions which may be the root cause of the coinage of the "noynoying" term. But I think he is doing something good as the Philippine economy is now emerging. I am into news about the economy and I am a Filipino investor. Being an investor, I do researches and look out for economic indicators to be able to plan my portfolio and investments. The way I see nowadays, the Philippine economy is emerging and flying high. This can be seen through the vote of confidence of the foreign investors in the Philippine economies making them invest their funds in a gloomy crisis overseas. The stock market reach all time highs nowadays. The oil prices is really volatile. Such high priced commodities with high demands from the world is hard to control. The President don't have much measure and power to control the market of oil. It comes out with the world issues. I also like the incoming spending of the government for this year. The PPP projects are already starting and this is something that can boost the Philippine economy. However, politics still linger around especially while Pnoy is on the hunt for those corrupt officials. As for me, I am satisfied with what he is doing. My only suggestion would be to hasten his decision making capabilities and also not to get caught of with a lot of media issues and tirades from oppositions. I am still monitoring his progress and is positive that he will perform better this year compared to the previous years.

You just gave us a very positive comment to look forward to. I believe all of us are into the same thing all along. What we all want is some improvement with the economy to alleviate poverty and unemployment. It is about time that we catch up with our Southeast Asian neighbors. I sincerely hope that the President be able to cope up to meet the expectations of the people in terms of improvement.

Yes, the future of our country lies not only in one person but in all of us in here. Improvement should start from us. Discipline should be epidemically transferred to each other to help out those on top in providing good performances. Sometimes, the inability of people to cooperate or participate makes steps in improvement very difficult and unattainable. But I think that with the way things are going, we are in for a slow but steady improvement pace. We just have to speed up the process of improving and developing our Filipino identities, skills and discipline.

Noynoying!!!That really makes me laugh. How could Filipinos be that smart? Imagine they came up with that kind of word to describe laziness. Well they must have reasons to do so. Indeed this Noynoy of the Philippines could be lazy enough as far as the people's judgment is concern. He talks a lot but do not do so much. He wants to talk about the mistakes of the past administration without knowing that he is creating his own rotten history. Noynoying! My goodness could it be worse than being Imeldific? Kris Aquino will you please answer this question?

Filipinos has good sense of humor, they can make jokes for Erap, they can call GMA lavandera, they can make spoofs for anyone especially official of the land. Filipins are creative and smart. They can think of anything just to address a president. Anyway noynoying can be a wake up call. If you'll be called noynoying knowing that they mean to be you're not doing anything then f course you must do something. I think even the president Noynoy was affected of his new alyas, for sure it will come to his mind that his doing his best but his best is not enough. So he must improve his performance.

I thought it was funny the same way that I perceived the Erap jokes. Filipinos can be creative with their ideas and they have certainly invented words describing presidents. If they get peeved they become the loser. The best idea would be to make improvements and prove those people wrong.

oh well, the people are always like that. After casting their votes, they're they goes criticizing the one they've voted for ruling the country. Why can't they just wait for sometime and see what will happen. If after 6 years and still our president haven't done good, then, it's the time people will do what they think is right...vote for another/new president.
• Philippines
17 Mar 12
Well, it depends on who did you vote. many voters vote but their candidate can be one of the losers in the election. still, we had a president and we expect him to do his job because he did promise to do so. We hold him accountable if we think he isn't delivering his promises. I think some people would want their leader to actually do something rather than wait for next election day or year. If we can't expect anything form our politicians, why give them power in the first place?

I heard of this so called noynoying in the news and i didn't like it. I mean why some Filipinos are so judgmental, instead of helping him out they look so stupid and making street walks to insult the president, they cat so uneducated.you're right, he has still 4 years more to go and it is not an easy ob to patch up a mess of corruption but I am hoping and praying that soon president noynoy will prove him self.Godbless us all and He may bless our president..

I don't think the word is really judgmental. It is a wake up call to the president to move fast. He is almost into 2 years of his term and still there have been no concrete improvements. His political advisers don't like the word but they have to take it with a grin and work fast to prove the critics wrong otherwise, another word might be invented which he certainly wouldn't care for.

I think this is really something that we should not be proud of. After all, the president was VOTED by the majority of the Filipinos, so calling him lazy and even creating a new term out of his nickname that meant laziness is not good for the country, because he was supposedly chosen to be the representative of the country. I hope you know what i meant. I am not a fan of noynoy, i did not vote for him too, but since he's the one there in the [position now, we ought to give him the benefit of the doubt. him and his officials running after the previous administrations allies and corruption is all part of the plan - it has to be otherwise it is all in vain, wasting almost 2 years running after them. I would think that it is only the beginning. You won't be able to clean the "house" if you only clean the surface and not take out the termites, the roach eggs that lies underneath. This is well, how i interpret his actions.

I don't know what people expect our president to do, given the number of things that really need to be changed here in our country. I'm no fan of Pnoy, but associating his name with laziness seems a bit harsh. Whenever my hubby and I watch the news, we would notice that the faces of the leaders of those who start these rallies are young and new. We got to a discussion that it's because the people who used to throng the streets to rally are now working. I was an activist during my college days and I can tell you that sometimes if you really think hard, you wouldn't understand what is it the leaders are really trying to get across. Or why you are in the streets, marching in the first place. I recall one picket we had in order to protest the tuition fee increase in our school and we lay down the streets in front of the gates of the school. At first we thought the picket was for that, that the main cause was the tuition fee increase. My friends and I raised our heads and looked at each other when our anger-spouting leaders began attacking the US in the program that really had nothing to do with why we were lying in the dirty street. We all want our country to go forward and rise from it's current situation. But we all have to do our part and not just throng the streets, raise banner, make a bigger headache by causing traffic and calling names. We, as a people can do better than that.

I am not a fan of the president but I am not a hater also. But if you come to think of it, somehow he is doing his job like running after corrupt officials. But it should not end there. When it comes to taking actions like economy wise, his are slow. There is no perfect president. In every president we had, there are rallies and complaints to the point they want to impeach whoever the president is. Remember, most of us voted for him. Can we really say that those who rallied against him did not vote for the president?

I voted for him too but I am starting to get disillusioned. It is not enough to run after GMA and Corona. What we need is good governance. I was reading an article a while ago that said he was not really ready for the presidency but we the people forced him to accept the job.

Sometimes I feel that a lot of us are not in a position to make conclusions like this since we haven't experienced being in a similar situation. I mean, I know I can't say if the president is doing his job or not because I haven't been a president of a country and would not know what exactly constitutes "laziness." Our country has been struggling economically speaking, but so does the other countries, including first world countries like the US. We're all feeling the economic crunch. Why can't we just stop all these name-calling and find constructive means instead to help solve our problems.

That is the problem with us people, always criticizing the government whoever sits in the position. This attitude will make our country really go down. Why not we just help the government and the president.

The people who coined this term are communist leaning radicals who will not be content until their idols Joma Sison and/or Luis Jalandoni take over the helm. They have a warped ideology that everything should be free. If these losers take over, they wont tolerate any criticisms against them and if you dare they will execute you. It is ironic that they accuse the president of doing nothing, when it was them who do nothing all year except if there are rallies then they become rubble-rousers.

I'm not a Pnoy fun but honestly all this name calling is crap!, let me ask this people what they have done for our country and perhaps all we get would be a shrug of their shoulder. It just comes to show that we are never satisfied from EDSA 1 onwards, let's do our share, Government would not help us! We have to start individually and start helping ourselves!

This word is so hypothetical and very biased. It's not enough to listen to the news. I used to receive the newsletter from Philexport and Korean Chambers and I must say President's achievement is really satisfactory. Yes he is not that showy but if you will read the programs and projects we'll he's not lazy. I read informative news not what flashed on the TVs which for sure will just only tell what's the people rallying about. There's no perfect president and I must say our current president is doing his job. Everybody must do his part. It's not the president's country alone. It's the people's country. One versus millions, who can do more? It's our part to do our job. Progress lies on everybody's hands.

Hahaha I thought what word was it! I don't usually give vocal comment about him, I just don't want to add insult to injury for most are already showing dissatisfaction here in our place regarding his leadership. I did not actually vote for him for I go for his cousin. How I wish too that someday there will be someone who will not just sit as one but work hard in order to raise our economy.

I really have to blurt this out - Only in the Philippines! It is only in this country and society where a protest trend is named after the president himself. Although his spokesperson isn't exactly happy about it, what can he do? We Filipinos are very well known to our 'pauso' like jejejemon and many other terms that we slowly adapt to our everyday language. I. my opinion, you have a point in saying he still have years left but people are already clamoring for change, mostly lately on the economic side of things. These issues are every immediate and affect each and eery one of us. Perhaps, we are not seeing what he has done but I think it should have been shown by now. Two years in office is already a good measure of things done, not of things to come. The economy is one crucial factor in our everyday lies. It's part of the package of his responsibilities. Aside from getting rid of corruption. The latter action might help the economy but efforts directed at the economy itself should be done. Corruption is just one of the elements to have a good economy, investors and making a good economic plan and strategies can be implemented now.

The most important job for a leader of a nation is to make sure her people is fed and sheltered. These 2 areas should be the top most important indications to measure the effectiveness of a administration. To boost up productivity and to eliminate unhealthy cultures in the civil service, determination is needed. It is not an easy job but for the good of the nation, it has to be done or The Philippines will keep losing its competitiveness until it is too late to do anything.

I guess this is what you call the environmental politics. This will never exist without any certain issues like this. Some people or I'd rather say that many filipinos depends their living from the benefits they could sip from the government. And I guess instead of hoping and waiting or just keep on "noynoying" on the streets then why not try to develop self motivation and perseverance to have a good nature of living. By then if you will go with the flow of politics then you will be run off with nothing, this is the kind of behavior we have in our society ever since. Oil price hikes is hard to control especially when we deal the price based on the world market, although we can still consider that we are capable to ease the situation if our country has enough fund to cover up the deficits of oil issues, and this could happen only if corrupt officials are put to refrain.
