So as of late I've been looking into way of saving money. I've read some stuff on Frugal Living before, and well normally I'm a spender but I got this gut feeling that i really really need to change that, so I wanna start now. I also recently opened a bank account! I put my atm card in my lock box and have done a good job not touching it, the most ive tried to limit myself if i must pull anything out for random spending is $20 a week if i even do that tho this month i havent so im proud of myself. I don't eat much either so the grocery shopping isnt so bad either. What advice could you give me MyLot and am i on a good start and what more can i do to jump on this?

I'm glad that you are working on saving. That is so great that you put your card in your lock box I need to get one of those things. You are doing an excellent job. Another thing you can do is save your spare change. If you have any left over money that's from a bill just use that for you savings and you will not really miss it because you were already prepared to use it as a bill. I to am trying to save. I love to buy myself things every now and then when I have extra so it has been hard for me to save. But lately I too have been doing better. I'm trying to save to plan a weekend trip for my husband and I. I hope that I can pull it off if emergencies don't keep popping up and if I'm able to penny pinch literally everywhere.

Find ways to get/do things you enjoy inexpensively. If you don't, sooner or later, you'll blow it because you'll just get tired of doing without. Think of substitutes for things you would spend money on. If you rent movies, get them from the library for free, or watch them online at free sites. If you like to eat at a certain restaurant, see if you can find recipes that are for the same foods you enjoy there. Things like that will cut your outgo without you having to give up everything to do it.

It's great that you're trying to save. I think that it's important to save, for many important reason. One way I try to save is I hang on to my spare change. It doesn't seem a lot at first, but it can add up quickly. Keep your eyes on when stores have things on sale. There are lots of ways for you to save money.

Naturally it is something that can be done. I know that because I have done it in the past. Of course, there needs to be a certain amount of creativity that needs to be exercised to properly save the right amount of money and have a decent amount of fun and live your life. But it really can be done. I know it is quite hard but it is something that is doable. And really there are a lot of tricks that can both save money and live life. In other words, the best of both words. So really there might need to be sacrifices that must be made. But those sacrifices will allow us to live the most full possible life and will lead to us being able to make the proper balance between frugal living and actually living our lives. Some people go right towards one extreme or another, and it can be a very tough road to travel and one that can lead to an extreme amount of frustration. But it can and has been done. Just shop around and compare and experiment a little bit when the budget allows.

If you have cash on hand, allow yourself only so much you can spend a day. Such as $20.00 a day or what every you'd like. Only have that money with you that day. At the end of the day, what ever is left should go into savings. The next day you start over with your new $20.00 or how ever much you decide. If you don't spend anything one day, then all $20.00 would go into savings. Another great thing to do is to save a set amount daily such as 2 dollars. 2 X 31 days = 62 dollars a month saved up. Good luck!

I am glad that you have been able to save money. Randy and I are not working right now, but we are both attending school so a lot of our financial aid money is going into our savings account and also we got our tax return and some of that money is in our savings account as well. I need to cut back on spending money on fast food. Lately, with Randy having so many doctor's appointments it is hard to not eat out because we never know how long his appointments will be and with him being diabetic he has to eat at certain times of the day. I do work online and save a lot of my money I make from here and will be using that towards Christmas. I also save my coins and rolls those up.
