Guides to create a corporate websites.

This evening my friend who i have paid to create a referral based website for me.. Then i got another job to create one more website like that from Universal Music (M). Because Universal is a strong name, he req for another MYR3000 (USD 1K) for this second websites, However i was only charged $500 for my first website i asked him to do. so when i got home, and do more research on pricing, i find out that the script for this type of website is about $20.. Domain is about $9.90 hosting..err.. can you recommend me some good hosting with affordable price? So i think that amount is over price, i better create the website on my own and get the profit to myself..
Now let say if i buy a domain, then i buy a hosting, how do i put all the pieces together until it become a website that i desired? Or should i consult hosting and script provider cust. service first before i make the purchase?
One more thing.. i cant visualize what is script, is it something like templates? where it comes with layout and system? Let say if im interested to add new features or gadget on my websites in future, can i just source it anywhere and add little by little?

Anyway, I recommend you to learn HTML and CSS and maybe javascript too. so even if you are not the one that building your site, you will have an idea of how to change things in the script. It is not as hard as you think, at least the HTML and CSS. than you can integrate gadgets or/and features in your sites as you please.

Hosting providers usually have some templates to choose from. For example you can choose joomla or wordpress. They are there for you to choose from. If you are goin on a serious business, find a reliable hosting that is always on 24 hours with few maintainane activities. If the hosting experiences a lot of maintainance, this will be a problem for your web as well. I had a hosting, which is still active but I abondoned it since it had a lot of maintainance activities. Terrible, really. Find a hosting in your city, so if anything crops up, you can just phone him or meet him in person. Have you done your jogging today?
