Facebook. Fan page Vs Facebook group

This two tool is very popular for marketing networking, biz info.. But which is better for public?
I want to create a place where everybody can exchange facebook like for free.. Is it more effective to do it in group or fanpage?

Well group is mostly use for people who share common interest and a place where each member can interact with each other. Facebook fan page is more a place for you and your fan ( member ) to interact. So depend on your need, you could use either. If you simply want to promote thing, fan page is the way to go.

There is one group that i joined recently for blogger to exchange link, i like it because when i search for link exchange keywords, groups has more user than fanpage...
one thing i hate so much!!!! I get notifications for every each new post! Now everytime i logged in to fb, there will more than 50 notifications and i often missed real notification when real friends post something for me because notifacations is crowded with unccesary stuff.. Makes me hates to check on the notifications already..

if you make a marketing networking, i suggest you to use fan page, because fan page is more effective, so with fan page we're not spaming their notification, and same as we keep a relation to public, but if you think it's privacy or you just want to certain people to join your network you have to choose facebook group.
