More and more people are falling away from the truth or religion because religion is a responsibility and commitment. We are told that in the bible that people will follow after there own desires and lusts and that is the world today.

People follow their own desires and lusts, anyways. If they are part of a group, then their desires and lusts just follow the same as the group they belong to, so it's not really a change. The worst, though, is when a religion starts asking for things like a percentage of the person's income... then, the people somehow feel like it's a part of their desires, to give money to the church, and that, is a scam.

People following lusts and desires, I mean things that take you away from a God fearing way of life. Things like the desire to go to football match or hockey game or a tv show or just go to the shops etc etc, rather than spending time devoted to the things of God. A true religion can be classed as a group and follow the same goal and belief. Our desire is to be in the kingdom when Christ returns. We do have a collection but it is voluntary and it does cost to run a church, heating lighting and so on.

It could be that more and more people are falling away from religion because they cannot keep up with the commitment. But that sounds more as if they're falling away from the church or from strict adherence, not from religion itself. If people are actually falling away from religion entirely, then it's more likely that they don't agree with your statement in religion being "the truth." I personally know more and more people who are becoming agnostic. I grew up in cities and towns with multiple churches everywhere - Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc. Most of the people my age (give or take a decade) grew up with belief being just an ingrained notion. But as we grew older, we questioned what religion was, what it accomplished, if there was any reason to believe, and a lot of us ultimately came to the conclusion that religion was cool for our parents and grandparents and great-grandparents but not for us. The desires and lusts that are in the world today -- are they any greater than the desires and lust that were in the world a generation ago? What do we have now in the way of temptation that wasn't there before? Besides more ready access to information, I don't know.

Religion is a way to be closer to God. It is not a burden, it is a grace. :)
