Since Coldplay's debut in 1999 with the album Parachutes, in my opinoion hasn't changed their style, but has still kept their popularity and their fans. How is that I wonder? In this generation, most bands and solo artist need to change their style and music repeatedly to stay " on top", but Coldplay never has done that. They've never changed but still have kept their fame. I think it's because Coldplay has such an unique style and sound, changing it would be almost unheard of. They make beautiful , quality songs that breaks the boundary of just " music you hear on the radio". They have made songs that touch people, reach out to people, get people in the palm of their hands and sucks them in. Chris Martin's voice is INCREDIBLE!!! His voice gets to you, and only a few speical people in this world have that kind of voice. What do you think about Coldplay? Do you agree or disagree that they haven't changed over time, but gave still key their fans, fame, and popularity in the music world?

I agree, they really haven't changed, but it's not a bad thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think it's their moody music style and especially their lyrics that make them so popular. Oh and true, he does have an unique voice. Yellow and The Scientist are two songs that influence me and I learn something about myself all the time when I listen to them.

Yes I agree, many artists and bands forget that, if they're music is popular and doing well, why would you change it? You don't have to be number one to be a good band. Vast majority of my music comes from old bands( not totally old old but bands like Creed, Matchbox Twenty, Blink-182) and music that is played regularly at my dance studio. Those bands aren't the most popular, but hey the make good music. Now what show be getting fixed is the crap thats making the top 40s list!!!!!

I have to kind of disagree on the 'style' front - compare Parachutes with the Viva la Vida album and to me there's a significant change. I do think the last album sounds like all the tracks that didn't make the Viva album though, which really disappointed me. However, you're right in that they've kept their audience and stayed current. Making the States must have helped!

England... - Yes, the music of Coldplay reminds me of England, especially rural England, which is so awesomely beautiful...like the music of Coldplay.
I agree about Coldplay: they sure do make quality songs; in fact, they have consistently maintained the quality of their music on all their albums, and I've heard them all; but only parts of "Mylo", which hasn't struck me as powerfully as their predecessors, but I must give it another go, because I thought "Viva la Vida" was magnificent, as I did all their predecessors, with some reservations of course, but I love their music very much, it has truly moved me. As an Englishman, I believe there is something uniquely English about their music...much of it has a melancholy quality that reminds me of the breathtaking beauty of the English countryside; some of it I'd describe as pastoral, as I would say the music of Mike Oldfield, or the great English Classical composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, unmistakably English. Yes, I agree, there's a unique majestic beauty to their music that touches people on a very deep level. Chris Martin is enchanting, charismatic, and his voice somehow goes straight to the heart, any band is lucky to have a front man of the calibre of Mr Martin.

I like this band. There songs are relaxing and nice o hear. I appreciate that they did not change their style, especially that a lot of singers out there changed their music in order to go with the flow. It shows that they stick to their beliefs and what they like.
