Do you have an antique or furniture in your family?

My family has a chair. It made of wood and it is still firm and solid though it has been used for about one hundred years. It is a typically traditional chair which is made as very square and there are some dragon patterns on it. This chair has a historical story. It was in 1950s, when our country was experiencing public ownership reform, the government captured many things including this chair from rich landlords. Then the government distributed these things to everyone. So my grandmother got this chair and kept it till now. We are still using this chair. We can sit on it or put things on it. I like it very much because this chair not only is useful, but also is designed in a traditional way which is all made by hand. My family cherishes it too. Once my cousin suggested my family to sell it, my family just refused and we will still keep it as a treasure. What about you? Do you have an antique or furniture in your family? :)

Wow, you do have a real antique at home! I don't like keeping old things. Whenever I clean my house, I will throw the useless and old stuff. Anyway, we have an old typewriter at home. It was the stuff which my grandpa used when he was in the USA. I don't know how old it is, but I think it is a kind of antique.

I did not put much interest in antique stuffs before so did not have any in the house. Moreover we have been moving around quite often that left us little choice to even think of keeping antiques.

I have a lot of things in my family that have been passed down through generations, and at the moment we're in the process of moving house which has meant that we have had to sell a fair amount of the furniture. I have to admit that half of the things that we're selling, I didn't realise just how much we'd be getting for them. If I'd known, I would probably have sold them a long time ago. That being said, there are a lot of things that I would never sell because of the emotional value, no matter how much somebody would be willing to pay for them.

Sometimes I don't know how antique is an antique for it to be considered one. Well we do have a lot of old stuffs at home which is probably over 70 years old but I am not confident on it to be of any value yet. I guess they'd have to be at least 150 to attract buyers. The oldest thing in the house is our piano, er, at least some remaining "relics" of it. Termites got the best of it and now it's just the giant strings something that's left.

Hi Constabulary! Yup! We have loads of antique furniture at home because my brother happens to be a seller of these. He goes to the different provinces here in the Philippines and gathers the antique stuff even if it already broken. He would just reconstruct them to make them sellable again. We also have those jurassic electric fans that weighs like a ton, the classic iron that uses coal for the heat, the cuckoo clock that lets out a cuckoo on every quarter, the funny butaka chair (it is a birthing chair wherein women rest their legs apart on the arms rests) and so maaaaaaaaany others. We also have many grandfather clocks! My friends are quite scared whenever they hang around our house because they are not used to being around antiques, they find it creepy hahaha!
