As the term of present Indian president Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil is going to end in this july, the discussion is going on the matter about the next president. I heard that the current vice president Hamid Ansari is one name which is considered by the government. Government also had the names like Pranab Mukherjee ( financial minister), Meira Kumar (speaker) etc on there list of consideration. The opponent is also in the discussion section on this matter and the names heard from that side is former president APJ Abdul Kalam. (I am not aware if any other names are also considering). I personally thinks that Abdul kalam should be given one more chance as he was good as president and he got lot of applause as a president. If he will be the president of the country then it will be a good boost for his views about INDIA 2020. What is your views?

I think currently there are two favorites for the job. One is Pranab Mukherjee and the other is Sam Pitroda. I doubt if Congress would consider Abdul Kalam, he is not a Congress man for their liking. Though I agree with you that another term for him would be wonderful. Coming to the two contenders, Pranab Mukherjee is of course a Congress loyalist. The only real question I guess is whether Congress need him more as a minister or as a president. Sam Pitroda has been a personal advisor to Manmohan Singh so another Congress man if you like it. I think at the end of the day, probably he would make it as Congress still need Pranab in ministerial role. Cheers! Ram

Yes. i also heard about the name Sam Pitroda. OPPosition is bring up the name of abdul kalam. not congress. if there is a chance for election, then i think BJP is considering abdul kalam as there contender.

I too personally support Dr. APJ. Though president is a a post without any real power, he made it powerful my his moral command over the mass! Salutes!! He inspired younger so much that many started to think for the country. If he gets another period of 5 years, that would be great!! He will intensify the passion and burning desire in the hearts of young Indians and take our nation forward!! Jai Hind!!

I wish Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam to become the president once again, but the corrupt political parties need one among the corrupt to ruin the nation. Even the opposing parties like CPM is supporting UPA to elect Pranab Mukerjee as the President, and they added that president should be a politician. Mamtha Banarjee, Karunanidhi, all said that they will support the contestent supported by UPA.So not much opposition for Prananb Mukerjee. So Pranab may become our next president. And i must say that the Prathiba Patil was use less and once again made the position rubber stamp. She enjoyed her life with many foreign visit using the position of President. And Pranab is in two mind, if he is not willing to take up the role of president, there is a chance for him to become next Prime minister, if UPA wins once again(rare chance). If UPA doesn't win next time then his wishes will not happen, so it is better to become president now. So probably he will become president. But if Pranab rejects offer, then next term is for vice President Hamid Ansari.. either one among these will surely become the president, no need to think about speaker Meira Kumar.

Personally i want A.P.J.Abdul kalam as the president. he was a great president and done lot of thins for the country, he raised the spirit of the Indians and dreams to make the India a next super power. But the politics played by various parties want some body other who works for them.
