Race for the Champions League (EPL)

April 17, 2012 6:20pm CST
We know that Man United and Man City are nailed onto being in the Champions League next season, but who does everyone think will join them? Arsenal are prime candidates, sitting a few points clear and doing relatively well. Spurs have hit a slump in form and look danger of losing their 4th spot to Newcastle, who seem to do no wrong at the moment! Chelsea lie 6th a few points off, but will their cup exploits hinder them?

Well I was expecting MU,MC,ARS,TOT but after their last matches seems like their blowing it in the last moment so it seems like it will be a battle for the 4th place between NC and CHE.

Have to say, as a geordie, i just love the thought of NUFC back in the champions league. The concept of us being in the Championship only 2 years ago - to where we are now. Alan Pardew deserves a medal!

Indeed Newcastle made an amazing comeback to the EPL and even though Carrol (who, as it seems from the results, made a bad choice for his career, joining Liverpool) was sold the team can achieve high standards of performance. On the other hand Di Matteo made an impact on Chelsea's morale so I can't find who has the clear advantage here, even the Spurs can have a chance even though it seems likely from them to have a bad result than a good one, especially after their big defeat in the semi against Chelsea.

It is looking like a straight fight between Arsenal and Newcastle to see who will grab the automatic qualification spot. But as Spurs have shown, all it takes is a defeat and the table will look different. At least, this fight will ensure that fans for Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea (they still have the Champions League semi final and FA Cup final to look forward) have something to look forward to.

The fight between Arsenal and Newcastle will definitely go down to the wire. Newcastle will definitely have a hard time in their next match against a charged Manchester City determined to grapple the title away from United's grasp. Having won United in an exciting derby last night, Newcastle would have to give their all if they really want Champions league action next season.

It's obvious that the first two positions in English Premier League belong to the two Manchester city clubs. One feels that Arsenal F.C. will join the Manchester city clubs. The fourth champions league spot is a battle among Spurs, Newcastle United and Chelsea. The way Arsenal lost at home to Wigan Athletics makes it difficult to automatically confer the third position on the team. The team's next match is against in form Chelsea which want to play in the champions league next season.

I think the top two spots as you mentioned will go to Man City and Man United. The third automatic spot in my opinion would go to Arsenal. The final spot in my opinion would go to Chelsea. Currently, the wheels are coming off the Tottenham team and so I expect them to fall short. Newcastle have been exceptional this season, but I expect them to just fall short. Chelsea on the other hand have suddenly found a rich vein of form and at the right time. Cheers! Ram

i believe that MU is more favourite than city... their mentality is experience than city..and it will be another factors for the key success of MU this season
