Yes, Eric cantona is one of the greatest players to grace EPL and Man united is lucky to groom him into one of the best during his time there. He has a lot more to offer for team compared to players of current generations. Though eric cantona doesn't run that often, but he often does intelligent runs, being at the right place at the right time. He doesn't carry speed in his legs but in his mind. With his quick thinking, he's able to offer more, making him a team player. He's a legend.

I am sure that Sir Alex did tune a bit on Cantona but he had been an established player even when he was still playing in the French League and then Leeds United. He is intelligent, yes. He is smart and seems to use the minimum energy required to get a goal. He and David Ginola perhaps are the 2 most talented French players who did not get adequate recognition by their FA to play in their national team.

Hiya jkct, He certainly deserves them yes and I hope he does get them. I have seen the awards yes. I can remember seeing him playing a few times when I could. He certainly got some good Goals in his time as well. Also glad the Manchester United managed to get back on their feet him along with other great Teams like Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers. Just remembering Paul Ince as well. Not that I had forgotten them altogether but others take their place in our memory even if it´s just for a while.xxx

Hi :) Cantona was such a mesmerizing player that when he was banned for the kungfu kick incident, football seemed a bit less interesting for me in that period. I was surprised and shocked when he announced his retirement. It was just not the same without him in the team. But Manchester United kept her balance and went on winning more trophies after Cantona had retired. I remember Paul Ince. He was like a bulldog in midfield, ready to take down any ball and players that was going his way. Blackburn was awesome in that championship-winning season with Alan Shearer. In Aston Villa, all that I can remember is the goal Peter Whithe scored in the Europeon Cup final against Bayern Munich in 1982. Those are sweet memories of the old days. Days when we were growing up and getting old. Times when we were building up our careers and families. It is nice to let those moments to go back in our thoughts even if for just awhile, like you said. :)

Hiya jkct, Mesmerizing player indeed and it was a pity about that kung fu kick incident. I thought that when he retired he might play somewhere else you know private Club or train Kiddies or something like that. Yes I am glad that they managed to do well Manchester United I did watch Paul Ince a few times being over here it has always been more difficult to get to watch any kind of Match. Have always like Alan Shearer as well for my kids he was a kind of hero for them too. Aston Villa I hope that they do well in the future too as I lived close to where they are. Well now it´s all Messi and Andrés Iniesta and Iker Casillas as well. Okay there are others but these are the ones always being mentioned too and Raul Garcia too.xxx

I remember you mentioned before that you used to stay in Wolverhampton, that is near Birmingham where Aston Villa is. Barcelona and Real Madrid are the teams of the moment and they do play wonderful football. Is Osasuna the team in where you are staying now? :)

He can also make it to the most mercurial talent if there was such a category. :) But yes, he was one of the top talents and an essential part of Sir Alex's successes in the 90s. So it is not a surprise that he is nominated in these 5 categories. Cheers! Ram

I always have a feeling that he did not really present all the potential he had in football. And to retire at just 30 years old really broke my heart at that time. Maybe he did the right thing as all my memories of him are when he was at his prime.

Well, I wish I were a football fan. I never enjoyed watching football games. I watched it but not really to my interests. I have seen more people are so crazy about it. They don't care what time the show will be, in the middle of the night, or other time, they will be ready to stay awake in order not to miss the game.

@yanzalong Which sport do you like? Cycling(as seen from your avatar)? Badminton(since you are from Indonesia)? I am sure there is an activity that could get you to want to watch it regardless of the time. Yes, I have been a big lover of football since I was 14.

Cantona is definitely deserved all that he is nominated for in my opinion. He was a special footballer who helped Sir Alex to win his first premiership crown and lay the foundation for the Manchester United Dynasty until today. He was also a footballer with his own styles. Thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate that.
