Listening to music out loud

I travel by public transport everyday and there is a usual form of irritation that I observe on buses and trains. People play music out loud on their phones for everyone to hear! Decades ago, few who carried radios around used to play it out loud for news, commentary etc., but we live in the age of headphones and private spaces and I think it is basic decency to keep your choice of sounds to yourselves. I might be having a bad day or talking to someone on the phone and your loud playlist of bang bang music might be a distraction for me. This isnt something that can be enforced as rule but dont you think it should be part of common sense?

It is irritating, but I think that most people who use personal stereos don't realise how loud they have it on and don't realise that other people can hear it. However, as to whether of these people are nice enough to turn their music down if nicely asked, remains to be seen.

What people do in their home, is their business naturally. They can listen to their music, how they want, as long as it is not so loud that the neighbors can hear it. However, there are people who think that everyone else around them would like to hear the same music that they hear, even if there are a lot of people who are just going to be rather irritated. I'll tell you what is really bad. When there are like three people who want to hear their music and none of them were yield, so they keep turning it up just a little bit, then a little bit more. The result you have three potentially conflicting and very loud brands of music right out there. Headphones are a wonderful invention, where you can listen to whatever you want, and no one would be the wiser.

That's rude and inconsiderate. Here in our place, you can see people especially youngsters wearing headset only. But I never encountered someone who plays his/her mobile phone too loud for everyone to hear.

I find it annoying too, they do the same everywere, even in a restaurant. I don't know if there are rules like that although I was always teached that you should not bother other people. So not talking out loud, no loud music (also not in your home and not after 10 pm), no phone calls where everybody is able to hear what you say, etc. I still teach my kids that way no matter if we are out or at home.
