Do you enjoy your job/career? Are you passionate about the work you do?

Are you working to pay bills? Or do you work your current job because you enjoy what you do? A large percent of people hold jobs that they absolelutely dread. Do you have a job or a career? Have you obtained one or more college degrees, but you work in a field that's not related to your education or training? I believe in getting paid for a higher purpose than paying bills. If you're not passionate about your occupation, if you sigh heavilly when its time to go to work; you probably aren't in the right job field. If you're not satisfied with your job or career, what are you doing to change your situation?

Professional Shot - Yes, this was...taken in London a good few years ago now. Photo by Rafael.
I'm passionate about everything I do, although my original career is not what I'm pursuing now. I think it's fair to say my first official career was that of actor. I trained as an actor, in acting college, and worked as an actor off and on for many years. I'm still an actor - officially speaking - although I've not acted now for a fair time now. I was never really successful, although I had my fair share of golden opportunities. I guess you could say I never wanted success enough; although I put everything into each performance. My preparation was obsessive and intensive. Since I trod the boards for the last time, I've done a variety of things, including office work; music; and more recently, online work. I've not devoted myself to music and writing to any way near the same degree as I did acting, but I consider them as much my "vocations" as acting. In terms of money, I've never made much...it was never very important to me. I'd like to change that situation, if I still can...I'm neither as young nor as well as I used to be, so I might be dreaming. We'll see.

Well! You should still be very proud that you had/have the courage to pursue your dreams. I notice you wrote that you're passionate about everything you do. Great attitude! You strike me as an artist that is not bound to one area of the performing arts. You like to try different things. You don't have to be rich and famous from the things you pursue. As long as you're happy doing what you like, you have nothing to worry about.

You seem very responsible and determined to reach your goals. Your chances of making a living in your desired field is much higher when you have a degree. Although, some people have two or more degrees and can't find a job in their field. That's when any talents you might have can make you a few dollars while you job search. Keep on keeping on!

Being a mother is work all by itself! I understand that feeling of wanting to stay home with your child. Making money from home can be done. If you research realistic ways to do so. Of course, you will need to make the amount of money you make from your current job, or more. Yes, when you have children, your desires get put on hold and your career path can turn into a maze. If you have a supportive partner, maybe you two can sit and talk about ways you can stay home with your child and still contribute to the household. In your spare time, (if there's such a thing) make a list of things you're good at, or work experience you can turn into a home job. A list of your skills is a good start. Even if you only have mother skills, you can make money from home by baby sitting another mother in need. Whatever you think you can handle, go for it! Good luck!

I do have a job but I don't feel and enjoy it, there are lots of factor that I don't like about my job. I work for the bills, for the money for food and stuff. What I only like about is that when I am free, I can use the computer for my personal use, which give me dollars. I am planning to study English Proficiency in TESDA, it's a one month half day studying. Even thought I will be jobless for 1 month, I will trade it than staying in my lifeless and stressful job. I hope by studying in TESDA, I'm gonna get a good job.

Yes! We hear lines like, "if you don't work, you don't eat". In my opinion, people don't HAVE to WORK to eat, but people do need INCOME! See the difference? There are so many ways to get income. We live in the information age. People use the internet for thousands of reasons. In my opinion, working for yourself is the thing to do during this slow economy. There are services people need that you may be able to offer. Are you enjoying what you do?

I am on both. =) I have been working for years and most of the time i work because i needed the work and i needed to do something, and build a career and find what i want to do while i work at the current job i have... it has gotten to a point where i needed to be doing something more and well of course there's still the need to work for money.. its not as if i was born with the richest people in the world i and there is no need to work for the money - im just being real here. Im glad that right now, i am working for a company i like, a job that i enjoy and the money to take home to.. so i guess its the perfect timing right now - it is where i think it should be at. :D

Oh! Its good to know that after suffering through jobs you didn't like, you're working for a company that you enjoy now. You didn't give up. I just think people that enjoy what they do for a living work harder and are happy to do so. Congratulations on landing a job that's a good fit for for you!

I am fine with my job, financially it does sustain our needs, i can finance my kids to school and buy what they need..plus my work offers me the chance to help other people and make a difference. BUT a part of me also feels i am not growing here, promotion is out of the way right now as some here are working through nepotism which i know is not right but reality is what can i do? anyways i am just waiting for chances to be able to resign and make some ways to make a business

At first, I just see my job as ways for me to support my sister with her studies, bring food to the table, pay bills and everything. But as time goes by, I realize that I am falling in love with my job and I no longer consider it as job but a vocation or a mission. I love teaching students not only things related to my subjects but also how they will face life with courage. Every time, I hear that some of my past students are now pursuing their dreams in life, I feel so proud for them.

I do have a job that I absolutely love. I do Childcare out of my home. I love working with children and I love being able to stay home with my little ones while making money. I have what some would say the best of both worlds. =)

In my previous job, I stayed for 20+ years and I enjoyed most of the years until the stress got the better of me in the later years. Sometimes, one happy job turns sour when the management have new people who think of policies to make them look good in the eyes of the stockholders. In the past 20 years, I was very passionate about my job and I literally lived for it. From the HR position, I got transferred to training and education, something that I really enjoyed. Knowing you are able to build character and integrity among workers and employees is something I always look forward to everyday. Now with the online job of article writing, i found another niche. I enjoy the job and of course, i enjoy the earnings. I have always loved writing. It has been a passion in my youth and I never imagined that I would someday get my earnings from this kind of job. It is not only about money because when you love the job you don't care about being underpaid or overworked.

My university graduation major is communication engineering, while now my master major is space detecting and information proceeding techinique. And what I am going to do when I graduate is software development. How wonderful! I love the change, because I can contact new things all the time.

I have worked from home in the medical transcription field as a QA Editor/MT since 1992. I absolutely love my job and really can't complain about anything. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to do this. I'm 45 now and I hope to be able to retire in this very same position someday.
