What are the benefits of having a dog in the house?

April 25, 2012 12:47pm CST
I personally like dogs because of there charm and cuteness. But unfortunately we do not have a dog in the house, just only cats. I am looking forward to going to the pet shop to look for one but I am also a little apprehensive because I hate toilet training animals. What are the benefits of having dogs? Maybe this could outshine my hesitations. Thanks for your ideas!

I have 3 b1tches, gran, mum and daughter, they are Border Collies, the most intelligent breed of dog. Here in UK it is the custom to have dogs in the house with us, this is good for the dog, being naturally social creatures to be excluded from the pack is frightening for a dog. Dogs feel safe and secure when they are with the pack, alone they may be anxious. Dogs provide protection, even a Border Collie, weighing only 20kg is a severe deterrent to an intruder and could seriously injure them. They are also affectionate and provide good company and entertainment, often their antics are very funny You should not buy a puppy from a pet shop. Only buy a puppy where you can see it with its mother and litter mates. Handle the puppy turning it upside down, touch its stomach, tail, ears and paws. A violent reaction may indicate a dominant dog that might be hard to train for a novice. Make sure also that the puppy does not leave its mother or litter mates until it is at least 8 weeks old and until it has been vaccinated is isolated from other dogs and never allow it to smell snail and slugs as even smelling these could infect it with lung worm all the best, urban

Yes, dogs are cute companions and good security. I have two. You just need to know from the start that they require more attention than cats. They are pack oriented. When you bring a dog into a human environment, the humans become his or her pack. They require a bit more structure than cats do. A bored dog can do dammage. I suggest introducing the puppy or adopted dog to your other pets in neutral territory like outside in the yard. Be sure to introduce the dog to your house slowly so he won't be overwhelmed. Once your dog is used to his new home, he will be a joy and delight. Dogs have an uncanny ability to give you just the kind of attention you need when you are not feeling well or if you are down. If you are willing to take on the commitment of a dog from first to last, it can become a very rewarding experience.

I love dogs and I have two miniature poodles. Dogs are fantastic company, soft, furry and friendly. They are always happy to see me. I feel relaxed and happy fussing them and taking them out for enjoyable walks. My bigger dog barks and this noise deters criminals. I toilet trained my dogs when they were puppies. I took them to dog training too.

I love dogs! They make me smile everyday. They are so charming, cute, and loving. Studies show that dogs help ward off depression and other health problems. This is very true. Come on, health benefits should far outweigh the toilet training part of having one. Get yourself one, Lauren. I have three and I love them!

By buying a dog you can save money because you don't need to keep any security person. Dog will perform as security guard for your house. A another family member to enjoy. I am suggesting you to buy a dog.

Dog is man’s best friend. Having a dog at home will help your home more secure. Dogs are a good deterrent for intruders, and they alert you if something is going on near the house that you may not be able to hear for yourself. They can also lessen your stress. It can be a grand companion especially if you live a lone.

If you get a little older dog, you can get one already house broken also you can avoid the puppy stage which can be stressful and cause damage to your home and belongings. We live in the country and would not consider being without a dog. She a watchdog and she keeps the varmins away from the house. But she is also a loving, giving companion.

Dogs are great company. They can take away stress once they start to play with you. You can take them for a walk, for a jog and a good company while walking outside and you have no one to talk with. Dogs are sensitive pets, they can feel what we feel and they can understand our feelings. They can guard us too- they cannot talk, but they can be a best-friend :)

Well although more work dogs can be more of companions then cats. Cats are very independent compared to dogs. Dog just by needing you can help fill a void sometimes. They are good to scare intruders away if they are loud or dangerous enough sounding.

Hello friend, It has many benefits to having a dog. At first it is your very good friend. You can play with me. You go to morning walk with him. Morning walk is good for your health. And last but not the least when you have a dog in your house you are very secure. Have a nice day.

well, you'll never be alone, a dog will always love you if u take good care of him and play with him, but it's a great responsability, because they need you to do things for them, is not just to get one and hope for him to do great for day 1. it's a lot of work and u gotta love them for real if u want to get one, and other thing, DO NOT BUY ANIMALS, adopt them, because if u really love dogs and cats or whatever you can't support the animal selling, it will be like buying a baby human... adopt one and make him or her happy =)

Dogs are wonderful pets! They come to greet you at the door everyday, have enthusiasm, and you can find one that works just for your family. Don't go to a shop, go to a shelter, and you most likely won't even have to deal with the potty training issue. I just got my terrier mix, my 1st, and best dog ever! Very sweet, 1 1/2 when I got her, already trained for potty, and basic commands. Not only do you get the benefit of saving them, but they always seem to remember that you did and your bond will be much stronger than having a shop dog. (Plus, shop dogs do have a hard time potty training because they are in those glass cases all day going to the bathroom where they eat and sleep. )

Dogs are better at protecting the house from burglars, or at least barking when they see one, so giving out signals. Also, they are told to be more loyal... but I'm a cat person actually :).

Before I don't like animals specially dogs and cats, cause they pee and poo everywhere, and i find it messy and disgusting, but when my husband brought one at home i have no choice just to take care that dog..we call him bastie, bastie is a shitzu and now i love animal, because of him and i find them warm loyal animals,if you take care of them, they will they take care of you. Most people said dogs are man best friend and we find its true..most dogs they sacrifice they lives just to save his or her master.I think having a dogs or any animals bring us happiness in anyway..and i guess that's why the Lord created them.
