Facebook close Friend

Just today i see below suggestion "people that you may know", i found "add to close friend". But now i cannot find the text anymore.
What do you know about this "Close Friend" function in facebook?
Have anyone try this function?

Yah, I noticed that like a couple days ago!! I decided I wasn't going to mess with that . . . I don't need to label anyone "close friend" as they know who they are. I don't even like labeling my family (cousin, uncle, aunt, whatever). And it's possible some people might get hurt - I can see how it can open up a can of worms with my more sensitive friends. Also I don't want to mess with it because what if it's another trick to get us onto Timeline (I don't have Timeline yet - and I intend to resist all I can).

Oh i see, so if we using that, it will force us to use timeline. I actually still using the old wall system. If i can, i will hold on as long as possible to the old wall system. Time line seems sucks to me. Off course sooner or later they will change my wall to timeline.

@much2say : Although this function will not let you go into timeline, but i do hear people complaining about changing into the time line with out realizing it. They never do anything but end up turning their facebook into the time line. Maybe facebook fill their site with timeline mines :P.

It will not force you into the timeline profile to use this "friend" feature. I use it and still have the old wall page, as well.

Well yes, if it just a new category to help us organize our friendlist, that i don't want to use that. I already organize my friend, grouping them into many category. Don't want to mess them up simply because facebook had already create a new category. Thanks for your reply.

All of the people on my friends list are an option to add as close friends. I have a small friend list, so this maybe different for other people. Right now, I don't have anyone on my close friends list, as don't see any benefit to making this change yet.

Oh i see. Well i actually also don't have any one in close friend friendlist. I only realize about the exist of that category now. I don't see any point of doing that. Also when i put some one in close friend, did the other person realize that? Also can anyone view whose my close friend is?

Thanks ethansmom0129 for your information. If that the case, then i don't think i will use this function. It is a good function though, and it might be very useful to some people. But i don't really take any interest at the feature that it give to us. Have a nice day.

Other people cannot see your preferences. They are not notified nor can they see what "type" of friend you have them listed as. It helps facebook categorize which status' updates and notifications are going to be more important to you by who's more important to you. Thus, you will see your close friends' status more often on your home page, as opposed to those you don't talk to as much. I use this feature, but usually only to make them a close friend, so their updates are priority.

Well i also not try it yet. I don't know what it gonna do and what will be the effect of that. I also wonder, in what kind of algorithm that the facebook use to recommended a person to be my close friend. The people the recommended to me is not really my close friend.

Well although it might a waste of time, but if categorizing people into our close friend give us something in return ( like friend preview, or noticing people ), it might be possible that it become something interesting for other. Off course i don't want to share to other whose my close friend are.

If you go to their profile page, there will be a drop down box in upper right hand corner for you to select what "type" of friend, close friends, friends, acquan, etc. Hope this helps.

Well thanks for your information ethansmom0129, you help us a lot and clear the confusion. From your experience at using this function, what kind of feeling that you have? Do you like the function? Do you hate the function? Did it help you a lot or it is have nothing to do that could help you enjoy facebook more.
