Sometimes I am surprised why it seems that all dogs can swim without any problems? Is this the nature or they learn it somewhere? Even if human beings need to learn the swimming. Why the dogs is the exception?

Dogs have what is called instinct. They do things they didn't even know they could do. Swimming is one of those things. Now some dogs don't swim well like pugs and such. Labradores are the best swimmers. They get tired like we do though so we have to help them out sometimes.

Hey youless, When you was born as child no body told you about how to eat or drink the milk which is given by your mother but still a new born baby you know this well. You are much awared about that you can have food only through with your mouth. Who learnt you this ? It's god who made you to study it. Like the same it's god who learnt dogs to swim in the water. Gods teach us such simple things even when we are very small itself. He help us to have such simple lesson to all of the living things around us

I think it is also in their instinct, and also they have fats maybe, to keep them afloat, like a floater. They can always dog paddle like they were born to do it.

Unfortunately we lost this ability when we grow up. We need to learn it again.

I think it is in their nature--they just know how to dog paddle. They are quite lucky since they know that skill already, they don't drown and they can even help their owner if he or she is drowning.

They will learn without teaching. For example..:- I have a cat. That is a small cat. That was caught some small frogs. But no one teaches it. This is just for example.

You say we still need to learn swimming, but actually it is not the original way we swim. If you drop into a lake before you can swim, you may sway your four legs and try not to be drowned. That is the original way animals swim. A dog which drops into the water may try to move their legs at first, gradually it will find a better way to keep floating. After the first time, dog may remember how to move in the water. Just like mating, a male dog knows when to find a female dog to mate. You don't need to teach them. But at the first time, the male maybe not proficient at riding on female or moving his body. Gradually, he will good at breeding. In ancient times, humans also like beasts. The season came, breeding started. No one need to learn how to breed. Nowadays, you may assume that you have to teach (or be taught) lots of breeding knowledge. That's because our conscience covers our beastliness. If you are raised by wolves, you may still feel like mating after you grow up.

Unum Titanic, the sunk ship, has 13dogs on it, but there's only 3 survived. In terrible conditions, dogs may drown.

Children swim naturally as do dogs, but parents don't know that their kids can swim, so they teach them to fear water to stay away from it! Its a wonderful thing to see toddlers swimming naturally on their own without any instruction.

But when the babies grow up, they seem to forget how to swim and they have to learn it again.

Dogs have been endowed with a natural instinct that they automatically do it when they are thrown in a pool of water and so do so many other animals.
