TAG on Mylot

Ok. I know, after over a year's work here on Mylot, this question should not even do it. But I must say that despite the time spent here, there is still a dark side for me to Mylot. My question is related to the TAG. I state that I'll put the tag only when I open a discussion, never put them in the comments and, even in private messages. I know exactly what TAG is not required to, but I wonder: Which is the convenience of myself and other users to TAG? If not put them in a discussion, it might perhaps have not put in evidence ? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hello. I am not sure if this will help, but when I first signed up with mylot, they stated that we should be sure to tag. It further stated that the reason that they want us to tag is so that they can keep up with the content in the comments and so that we may find it easy to find a certain comment. Lastly, they stated that tagging will enable them to categorize the discussions under the right topic. It's a bit redundant but I guess they have a method for their madness.(smile)

I never tag anything weather its me that created a discussion or someone else has started a discussion. It's what ever anyone would want to do. I just never do it because other people tend to do it any ways.

I do use the tags and I also find that very often they do not work in helping me find any discussion. I use the search on occasion but it isn't the best search in my opinion. I mostly use the tags to avoid the pop-up of "add tag to this discussion" if I respond back again.

Tag or No tag, it is matter of choice! You should post more useful content and see yourself contributing to a whole global community.

At first when i joined mylot,i thought that the tags would help users to find posts if they were searching for it.then i realized that it was not the reason that the tags were used for.So i don't put them so often anymore,

Did you see that column over there --
Those are dicsussions with the same tags as this one. They are in order depending on when the last received activity, with the most recent at the top.
If we tag our discussions correctly they will show up in that column too when similar topics are open and otjhers might respond on them.
Tages help when using the search too.

ya but they don't always work. I posted a discussion on Steve Tyler and his so-called screwing up of the National Anthem. I searched this a number of ways prior to posting it and then got told that I'd be lucky if it didn't get deleted as here were so many of them. I still can't search and even find my own discussion on it via the search let alone any others. I even used the tags to search...nothing. See if you can find it without going into my profile.

SO it really does help in searching huh.But do you think that we would have to add tags to the responses that we are posting?

yeah its really irritating, don't know why they do it, mylot employees, if you are reading this, please take off the tag option and also those do you want to take these offers page that show at the start of signup.

I have explained how you can skip seeing them all except the first one.
The offers may appear to be the same but they are not if you look closely.

Well, i don't actually know how to use tags since i usually skip them. I only use them very rarely and that's only when i open my own discussion or topic. But i get it of why mylot have them. I think it's actually helps in SERP. But as far as mylot doesn't require it as "must", i think i would just put tags when i open my own discussion, because i honestly don't know what to put in there unless when i open a new topic.

FYI, i forgot to say that mylot actually state the tags function on the bottom of the tags page, all you need is to read it ?
