Watch Movies In A Different Language

my husband and i decided to do something different today and watch a movie in french. it's a comedy about two unlikely people, from opposite side of the tracks having to get to know one another in an uncanny situation. i accidently downloaded it, so we decided to give it a try. it was so funny even if we didn't know what was going on. lol. have you ever decided to watch a movie in another language. if so, did u enjoy it.

I prefer English movies even though English is not my native language and i feel ok with it. If watch movies with the others languages i may need the subtitle in English. However, i hate to watch movies and then see the subtitle, i cant follow all movies when watching like that.

it's the truth. sometimes i can't watch certain movies with the sub titles. i have to do much reading. i end up concentrating on that and not what the movies is about.

yeah..i also watched movies in any languages ..dont matter..as long as the movie is good.. ive seen movies in Japanese..korean,,malays..tagalog,thai,hindi..french,italian,,scandinavian films..etc.. even spanish and portoguese.. many..any language.. i dont care..
btw..whats the title of this french film ur watching??

the movie i am watching is called the intouchables. it is a really good movie. i think i will watch it again. i am curious to know what they are saying. after about a couple of times watching, i will download it with english sub titles.

haha no problem..i too downlaod sometimes..
but anywya..watching foreign films without subs..is hard..unless u know a bit of the language.. rite now im watching Twins Effect2..a chinese movie on youtube.. no subs..but i understand a little bit of cantonese(hong kong chinese dialect)..so it helps.

The movies I watch are usually in English and that is another language for me. I like it and I mostly watch it without subtitles. I also watched movies in other languages like French, Spanish, but not so many.
I also watch a lot of Chinese, Japanese movies because I like their culture and martial arts movies

i use to be into martial arts movies when i was a little kid. i use to have a crush on bruce lee. now, it jet lee. lol. so,yes i like chinese films.

yes,i have watched movies of different languages already,english,french,spanish,italian,japanese,chinese,taiwanese and korean.i love watching it because i learn their language
and culture.if there are no subtitles, i really watch it and i understand it thru the body and mouth actions.and it is interesting!

i notice that the acting is more conservative here in the states than in most other countries. acting overseas seems to be more passionate and has more value to a story line.

I have watched quite a few movies in different languages, and funny enough I remember these much better than ones that were in English! Maybe it has to do with having to read the whole thing captioned, or the fact that I didn't know what was being said and I had to pay much more attention to visual cues to see where the story was going. Overall, I have loved them and hope to see another again soon!

you are so right, i did have to pay more attention to what was going on. and i did remember more. that's so odd, but actual. have you seen the movie persepolis? you should try that one. it is in french.

culture fascinates me, as well. i end up wanting to go the many of the places i see in the movie. i guess it is the same way when people film things from my country.

It's definitely an exploration of cinema to sit down and watch some movies that are not in a Language You'd be fluent in..I'd enjoy Martial arts Movies,so I'd have some of Jet Li's Movies ...I went to the Cinema to see "Amelie" and "Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon",and have both on DVD.."Crouching Tiger" would have an English dubbed soundtrack,but I'd prefer to watch it with Subtitles!
I'm a bit on the fence about remakes of a movie just to redo it in English..If The original Movie was good,why do we need to retread it with an English cast?
"Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" would be one of the recent ones that come to mind..
Maybe they throw more money at the budget and FX..There is a Trilogy of "Taxi" Movies in French...#1 got remade for Queen Latifah.. She's a Cycle courier whose dream is to drive a NY Cab..one that She's rebuilt as a racing machine,and finds it taking time from that She'd rather be spending with Her Guy....
The Original French Movie has a Pizza Delivery Guy Doing the same thing..With Marian Cotillard as the Girlfriend ! Fun Movie..

Yeah, I love watching foreign films, I have watched French, Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Swedish, American. Subtitles don't bother me as long as the story and acting is good. i love french movies too- mostly with Audrey Tatou and Marion Cotillard- they're fun.. What's he tile of the movie you watched.

i think i posted the title in a previous post. it is called the intouchables. you may want to check it out. i didn't watch it with english sub titles. so, i watch the whole thing in french. it made me wish i paid more attention in high school.

other people's languages sound exotic to me, as well. you should try to look at a few nigerian movies. they are hillarious. you can find alot of them on you tube.

I've watched quite a few movies in different languages: French, Belgian, Japanese, Spanish... one of my favorite movie trilogy (Stefan Jarl's "Mods Trilogy") is in Swedish. I find the foreign films more creative, off the wall and fun than the American and English language films I watch!

I had watched a lot of movies with different language. Watching different movies that have different languages is more fun. I understand the story sequence by reading the subtitle of a certain movie. I enjoyed reading it most of the time rather that watching the movie itself. It sounds weird but I find it more enjoyable. It cuts my boredom and it also help you in providing more culture differences in a particular place. Most of the time I love watching Korean movies and Indian movies. It is more humorous and it really have a moral lesson. You will enjoy watching it at the same time you learn something out of the movie.

i also get to learn about other cultures when i watch films in another language. it's one of the reasons why i chose to do it sometimes. i just invited me hubby in on it, even he appreciates it.
